A new sign to indicate if someone is having a Stroke...

I felt this was important to pass along...it is very easy to help someone survive a serious situation.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a

stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours,…

A visit to the Farm.

Just got back from visiting my friend at the farm. It was a busy year with lambing this year. Some young rams got up to mischief and this is part of the results!!! Last year their flock was around 28 ewes and they had 12 lambs. As my friends son had passed away his wife decreased the size of the flock to a manageable size of 8 ewes but some of the young rams got out and…

Cloth Diapers

Hi

This is not quilty, but I know there are a lot of you ladies who sew other things as well.

Has anyone here made cloth diapers using the waterproof PUL fabric for the outer layer?  Fold over elastic?

Any one know a source for the "Velcro" type loop fabric - not in strips, I think it is 54" wide and much softer.

I would like to find a reasonably priced source for these things to make diapers for the orphanages in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and I will need to make…

Fire!!!

Hard to believe that a month ago I posted pics of 20 inches of snow in one day in our area.  Today I could post pics of a wild fire if I had some.  About 4-5 miles as the crow flies from our home a wild fire started yesterday burning 9000 acres in 2 counties.  50 people evacuated; 50 structures burned 17 of which were homes.  About 20 local fire departments and DNR worked and 2 Blackhawk helicopters from National Guard and 2 Canadian planes dumped water.  Thankfully, no injuries occurred.  I…

Back from my Mini-Retreat

Today, some of my quilting friends jumped in my van and travelled up to the Mountain House for a full day of quilting, chatting and munching in a sort of mini-retreat to spend some time with with each other before summer and families take over, and we don't see each other until fall.

Helen brought chocolate-covered fresh strawberries and ladyfingers; Marcella contributed triple chocolate muffins; Maudie brought pizza, Louise a fruit salad and Nancy deviled eggs.  I provided the…

FYI on a FMQ online class...

I have been FMQing  for quite a few years and have taken many classes. Most of the classes have been very disappointing...until now. Did you see on the main site last week Lori's FMQ project? She took Cindy Needham's course on Craftsy called Design it, Quilt it. I respect Lori's comments and work, so I went to the site and signed up for the course.

It is by far the BEST class I've ever taken. Whether you are an experienced FMQ or a beginner this will…

A quilter in outer space without a sewing machine?

http://science.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/05/14/18254269-first-quilter-in-space-nasa-astronaut-plans-to-turn-orbital-rags-to-stitches?lite=

I don't know if anyone has read this yet but it sounded interesting. Personally if I can't have my sewing machine and iron, I don't know that I would go.

The Sunbonnet Sue Quilt is Twin size and is for her 7th birthday in June. Not sure how it'll fit her bed as she just got a new bed from Ikea and it's like a bunk bed with no bed on the bottom, DD will have fun tucking it in all around.

Music table runner

This was a wedding gift for the daughter of a good friend.  It was a fun, little project.  Machine pieced.  Hand quilted.  Late April/early May 2013.

I have a lot of the little notes fabric.  It has found its way into quite a few of my projects.…

Bedroom Finished, All But the Shams

As all of you know, when you make something or buy something, one things leads to another and another and another.  After finishing my block swap quilt that is on my bed in the picture, then I wanted to put it on my bed but nothing matched.  I asked my son if he would paint my bedroom and put beadboard on the ceiling.  For about the last 2 months ds has been coming…

Excuses, excuses

I'm here but swamped. Suddenly is it 85 degrees and the grass needs mowing, the weeds are growing, I'm trying to get the garden planted, the dogs are shedding and bringing in more dirt. Argh! And I have less than two weeks now to finish rewrites and mystery quilt pattern. So, any guesses how much DH has volunteered to take over??? Yep.

I'm still checking on you because I'm so addicted to QWU. Thank goodness it's not fattening but--I keep seeing things that inspire me. Keep it up!

High Fiber—Spring Comes to the Mountains!

Our daffodils bloomed just in time for Mother's Day!

The hummingbirds are back, too. The hiking trails are almost clear of snow. The mud is starting to dry on the trails, so we decided to take a hike in Toll Canyon, near our home, on Wednesday. It looked like a nice day when we started out, but it started to rain while we were out. The wildflowers are…
