Painting progress

The painting of my twin granddaughters karate picture is slowly progressing and I'm liking how it is coming together. The more I look at it, the more I want to do it as a thread painting and am looking at how I want to undertake that challenge. I may have to make it a little larger than the 16" x 20" that is its current size to really be able to give it the detail that I want.

Thanks to all who have been very encouraging about my art work.…

90 year old Father

My father turns 90 years old tomorrow.  He was in WWII.  He was on a sub.  All through my childhood he talked very little about it.  I do know he lost many friends in the war.  I am so proud of him.  He always did his duty and took care of his family.  His health is fine but physically he is slowly slowing down.  We do not have many WWII vets left.  I had an uncle who was wounded in Normandy and France.  I am afraid the young people do not know how much his generation loved their family and…

Happy Memorial Day

I want to wish all of my friends in the US a very happy Memorial Day.  Please take a moment to remember why we celebrate Memorial Day. If you are traveling, stay safe on the highways.

April Showers, in May

What started out as an early spring, with the leaves coming out almost a month ahead of time, has now turned into day after day of cloudy skies, wind, and ‘April showers’ in May.  During the few days this past couple of weeks that the sun shone and the rain held off, I managed to get a very small vegetable garden planted, hanging baskets put together and hung and most of the unending weeding done.  On the days when I can’t get outside, I’ve been busy at my sewing machine.

I’ve made a…

My new sewing room

Hi Ladies, I know you have been looking forward to seeing my sewing room here at the apartment. I finally took some photo's yesterday.  The two pictures of the closet is sideways.  I rotated them but when they came up on here they are sideways.  My ironing station is in front of this double closet.  When not in use there is room to store my ironing board behind the door.  I had my two matching sewing machine cabinets made locally in Canada.  The other one I have had for many years. It has a…

problems posting possibly...

Hi everyone. So I know that this site sometimes has issues and usually they work itself out after a few minutes. However I have messaged the network support team to find out when they expect the site to run more smoothly...(are they running updates?)

So for now, be patient, and hopefully it will get better within the next few hours or so. Some things to try:

-Empty your cashe (it's like a memory that can get too full within your browser) For Windows, push Ctrl + F5.

A Roller Coaster year so far!

Good morning all;

I hope that you all have had a wonderful New Year and a good start to the 2016 year. I wish you many blessings and joys albeit a little late now that spring is here.

I have had quite a roller coaster year so far, and as a result have been absent from my postings.

Sadly, my little sheltie, Koka got very sick in February with ear infections (vetted) and her issues mushroomed throughout the rest of the winter. She was diagnosed with many issues,…

High Fiber—Beethoven, Binding and Birthdays

The performances of Beethoven’s Ninth on Monday and Tuesday went well. Here’s a photo from Monday’s performance.

We were in Berlin for Christmas in 1988 and attended a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth with Herbert von Karajan conducting. It was a very moving experience. The wall would come down less…

What I have been doing.

It has been awhile since I added to my blog.  I have been busy making quilts.  I have made twelve for fundraiser and seven for gifts in the past year.  I am presently working on one from my grandmothers clothing. I quilted one this week for a wedding gift  My great nephews picked out a top and I allowed them to quilt it on my LAQ. They did a great job and we gave it to their mother for Mother's Day.…

I thought it was a good idea.....

but...it really isn't!

I made a bedrunner a couple of years ago and love it. Irene had made a Christmas runner that she posted last year. Ordered the pattern and decided I wanted it to be a bedrunner. So, I made it up.... Added the borders... Then, this…

Mother day/ birthday/ anniversary gift.

My dear husband of 40 years of marriage today, decides he wants a Lone Star quilt. Make it to look like feathers. He keeps showing me pictures then says, " but more feather like and Native American colors." "Brown and orange," I reply? No and only solid fabric, after I showed him the fabric I like from CT. In fact I made a blue one, but that is not the right colors. I gave him a grid and told him to color it. He just looked back at me. That happen a few weeks ago. We went on vacation and…

Sad news about Suzanne L/WA

I'm very sad to report that one our our QWU friends was killed yesterday in a head-on collision.  Here's the article:  http://www.tri-cityherald.com/news/local/crime/article77772542.html

I never met Suzanne in person, but we met here on Quilt with Us and we were in several groups together.  We became Facebook friends and I got to know her better.  Besides being a quilter, she was a huge lover of animals…

I'm getting hooked

I finished another Fold N Stitch wreath yesterday.  These can be kind of addicting as it is fun to try different fabric combinations as well as decorative stitches on our sewing machines.   This one is going to be donated to the silent auction my guild has as part of our annual quilt show every Sept.   My friend Teresa wants me to make a purple one for her so that will be the next one I do.…

Wrapped in a heavenly quilt

I just saw a post on Facebook that one of our members, Suzanne Lefevere, from Kennewick, WA was hit and killed in a head on collision. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few years ago. She was a wonderful woman and much beloved teacher and lover of all creatures.  Please keep her family and friends, students and fellow teachers in your prayers.
