Part of our vacation included a trip to Niagara Falls. So I decided to change my profile pic to include my husband as we waited for the Maid in the Mist boat ride. We spent 4 days being total tourists. The Falls are beautiful and everyone should see them at least once in their lifetime. There is no doubt God is the Great Designer in nature.

I posted a picture of the Roman Blinds that I made for my sister. The light was not good that day and they look dark but they are really a nice bright ivory and the wall and trim is also light.
She has light sheers over them.

I've been working on a Christmas quilt top for our local shop's "Christmas in July" sale. Granted, I'm a little behind the power curve, but that is what I get when I make it up as I go. I used a charm pack, several yards of fabric and a really good seam ripper. The fabric is all Moda's "Kansas Troubles" fabric, so the colors are rich and warm. The pattern is a little irregular (intentional) so it gives a jolt to the more tranditional fabric. (I've been told by the shop owner that I'm good at… Continue

Charlie is the biggest of my four dogs @ 71 pounds. Last night he kept pacing into my bedroom and tried sneaking up on the bed. He was acting like there was a thunderstorm (which there wasn't) and he was definitely scared of something. So I got up and checked out the whole house. I think he's scared of the crickets! They were really loud last night and the crickets I get for the lizard don't usually make much noise.

I am cutting out the fabric for the "Indigos Around Lap Quilt"...on fabric#6, light blue star grid...it asks that you fussy cut the fabric in 1 1/2" strips but the star grid starts out crooked and then straightens up in the middle and gets crooked at the end again...how do I fussy cut that if it is not straight? Help...

I can't believe that tomorrow is July 1st. My DH and I thought that we were at that point in our lives when we would be able to "take it easy" a little, maybe slow down some? We are both still working, but the kids are grown now. Welllllllllll, we spent this past weekend moving daughter Amber, who is 7&1/2 Mo. pregnant, back home with us. Daughter Hayley (a.k.a. Brooke) and her husband Nick helped. This was all on pretty short notice, and we expect that Amber will stay for at least 3 mo..… Continue

I think I have just spent the better part of today on this site. The Sylvia's Bridal Sampler group does a whole lot of talking. Then my arm was twisted and I joined one of the new groups on Needleturn Applique. Now, maybe I can get back to the UFO that has all the hand applique left on it. I did manage to do some sorting through a box of fabric, as I am getting ready to start a new EPP project (from the EPP group page) in about two weeks. When I am supposed to find time to do all of this, I… Continue

Well, I finished putting together the quilt for my friend...and I am very pleased with how it looks. I quilted "comfort" words like love and warmth and family into the orange lozenge shapes in the border. I needed to put quilting into them and I thought that that would be more personal (and hopefully more meaningful) than just another design. I hope she likes it. Right now it's in the washer. I am going to try and add the photo to this blog...if I can remember how to do it.… Continue

Thanks to all who offered help with my 1/2 triangles and then whether I should mitre my border or not. He's finished (well, except for the label). Thanks again to all the great folks on this site and their talent and suggestions! Pics are posted on my page. (I have an old version of some program that makes other pics huge - sorry!)
I've been a little "quiet" recently due to a very sick pup (who is now, happily, sleeping on my chest) and a fall my uncle experienced - so I've been a little… Continue

Well at least this one is done.
I'm putting on my first border for my Emilie's Raspberry Truffle kit. I thought I was all finish and realized I have one of the checkered strips flipped. I'll be doing the frog stitch today.......grin.

Good Morning, Quilters!
I've started a new group for Needleturn Appliquers and hope that if you're hooked on needleturn as I am, or are a wanna-be needleturner that you will join us. Although I'm no expert, I do have 17 years of needleturn under my belt and am more than happy to help anyone who is needing some. I'm sure there will be others that will also help anyone interested in trying this wonderful, relaxing style of applique.

So after finishing my first quilt for my daughter and being the youngest child, I decided I needed to make another quilt for my soon-to-be son. I have been a fan of Riviera
since it was designed at the office so I decided to make the Brick Quilt
with some slight… Continue

Well I have never "blogged" before so this is new to me. It seems from what I have read a great place to get to know some new friends and keep in touch with some old ones. I have to be honest I haven't hardly sewed a stitch for six months. I did embroider on a baby blanket over the weekend and I do remember how to thread my machine ...so far so good.
My daughter (25 yrs old) moved back home with us last summer and in December she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. I am now full-time baby… Continue

So here I go again on this designing quilt patterns. I finally found the quilt block that I want to use out of the book by Jinny Beyer "the Quilter's Album of Blocks & Borders. I have drawn it and colored it like 3 or 4 times and can not come up with the just right color combinations that I want. I would love to get the eq6 software so I could quit having to draw and color. The crayons and colored pencils just do not do justice. Each time that I pick a block to draw the entire quilt from my… Continue

Well, today I get to work at our local quilt shop. Our owners are away and I'm filling in for them so I should have a really good day. It doesn';t get much better than touching and talking quilts and fabric all day long. As I promised, here are a few photos of our quilt show this past weekend. I took lots but will only post a few at a time. I gotta go and do my shampoo, shower and shine routine as it takes a little longer these days to get that NORMAL look. Have a wonderful day. I hope ya'll… Continue

It is cloudy today, so maybe it will be cooler. I finished my DIL quilt top and will be taking it with me to their home this weekend. I am still working on BOM and catching up. MY sister sent me this beautiful afgan (pic on my page) and I found the exact quilt I want to make them for their anniversary in December. She stood up with us when we got married and I stood up with her when she got married. My sister and her husband have a cabin cruiser and I found a pattern called the Summer Wind in a… Continue

Back in Feb. I commented about being in a funk and had alot of responses. All were appreciated, but I can't seem to get past whatever it is I have going on. I've given myself a break from quilting, which has now turned into almost 8 mos of giving myself a "break"!! I have spent time looking at books, patterns and yes still purchasing material by the "truck loads", thinking something will spark me...It's just not happening. From the time I got my first new sewing/embroidery machine, which was… Continue

It seems like it's been forever since I wrote or even have been able to visit this site!! I think I am having withdrawls. This time of year is grueling with all the graduations, weddings and everyday life moving into the summer months. But in good old AZ it has decided to get unbarably HOT and now I can get under the A/C and quilt. I am still working on my cathedral quilt which is going well. I am also finishing a baby quilt for a niece, an I Spy quilt for my son and the much promised Purple… Continue
