My Quilt Store is Closing

It's a sad  day in my town our quilt store is closing,  it has been so nice to be able to go visit with great people I will surely miss my quilt store, our town is small and we do have a Joanne's but I dont always like there fabric a little on the cheap side not the major brands, so I will be buying fabric from Connecting threads. But goodness knows I really dont need any more for some time. I am sure I have enough to keep me busy for some time as I have made three visits to the quilt store…

Playing Today!

I was playing today and made a rotary cutter case. On the back side, a package of spare blades can be attached. This will be part of my "Quilters Accessories". At the moment, I am trying to put together a

booklet that will feature the whole set. …

Going Home!!!!

My son and his dad will be here Sunday to help get things ready for me to go home and be able to function.  They are letting me go home Monday morning.  It's a happy/nervous feeling, like entering the unknown...  But I am putting my trust in God that I will be fine.  I am so grateful they will be staying for about a week, so I will have time to adapt to home while I have help before I go it alone.  William probably won't be able to go home for about 2 or 3 more weeks.  Monday I will get to…

So Many Fires

This is still June and there are so many forest and grassland fires already that it is hard to believe. The Colorado fire near Colorado Springs has been in the news because of the damage to homes and property. It is terrible and maybe 27,000 acres. Our quilt guild is now involved in making quilts for displaced families. There is a fire in my my county, so far not too big but yesterday was very smoky and that can change in a few minutes. Up in Montana and to the east is a fire of over 110,000…

I just posted a "Smilebox" creation.  I wasn't sure if it would work but think it did.  I was able to open the creation and watch.  There's just a little more "stuff" than when B.J. Elder posts.  I think the difference may be that B.J. is a member and I am not.  Will have to think about joining.  I am so computer illiterate that I'm too proud when I figure something out on my own.

Neutral & light weight

We are discovering that living here is Montrose, it is hotter than we imagined.  I want to make a “quilt” to put on my bed that is very light weight.  I found this beautiful tone on tone fabric that would be perfect.  That way I can make bed runners to change up the look. …

Banners for the Wedding

I've shared with this group that my oldest son is getting married the end of July.  My future DIL asked me a few days ago if I would make some fabric banners for the reception.  She is going to get bright flowers from Costco for the tables, so the banners should go with that.  What fun!  I am making a total of 12 of them and she requested the one at the head table to have our last name.  I have 3 of them done, they go together so…

Great news!!

As of last Sunday the bed is no longer the center of my world.  I am either rolling around in my wheelchair or sitting on the couch in my room.  No longer need the bedside commode and today they came and got it for another patient who needs one.  They found me another table so I have my laptop on it and I sit in my wheelchair to be online.  I now have an office area/ craft area/ dining area......LOL.  I only use the bed for sleeping.

X-rays were made yesterday of both my…

This is why I like CT fabric.

I am seeing stars. When CT had the stars fabric on sell a few weeks ago I noticed they had black with what I thought was white stars. Only it is grey. I had three yards of white with black or the darkest blue, which I bought on sale at the local quilt store  years ago ( I thought it was white and navy).  I decided to make it up for a graduation gift.

This is what I have learned from making up the quilt this week. Just because it comes from the local quilt store it may not mean they…

Jumping way out of the box...

I have been working on collecting stories and pictures about our lake and little town. It has been ongoing for two years. I haveattended potluck lunches at the local fire station to interview the local "old timers" and have gained not only stories, but weight...those ladies can cook! I've researched old newspaper, etc. Well, for the past month, I've been holed up getting this ready to send the book to the lake association board for approval. We will sell the book for a fundraiser. I have…

I bought 2 Bittersweet charm packs, HAD to have them!! (You know what that is like.)

I want to make a quilt with a skinny plum border followed by a wide Ct border. I cannot choose!! I like some of the batiks, some of the orangey/red browns/some of the fall colour prints.
