I just read on FB that Linda Sue Robertson Passed away Friday Morning. I'm so sorry to hear this.
Better late than……
Thanks to Pam’s reminder, I thought I’d just check back and see when I last put up a blog post here – and to my shame, it was February 2017! How could that much time have passed? I may not have posted, but I check in here regularly and read whatever others post.
In the more than two years since I had a ‘show and tell’ here, I have been keeping very busy. My DH has been diagnosed with dementia, so we have begun that journey, and last Fall, I was…Continue
I usually only share on the Giftie forum, but I'll share here today. This is what I'm currently working on. It's a pattern from Sam Hunter of Hunter's Design Studio. These are the colors she made hers with and I just loved them so much I decided to use the same colors for a gift for my niece's wedding. This is just the top. I'm almost done quilting it. Now both of my daughters want me to make one for them too! This picture does not do the colors justice though.…Continue
We have been so fortunate to have a place to share and learn new things about our passion. We're all busy, but take some time to participate and help make this the site it use to be. This is not just about quilting, it is about sharing...so let's see some new faces and projects. Have a great day!
A huge Thank You to Connecting Threads for allowing us all these years to share!
I have really enjoyed making purses & totes. They are a great way to use up fabrics that you just had to have, but only bought a yard of. They are especially fun when you can make part of them using an embroidery machine. Here is my latest. I did the sewing motifs on my emb machine & finished the rest on my Pfaff. The designs are from Sweet Pea (swpea.com).…Continue
I just finished my art quilt for the Cherrywood Fabrics Bob Ross Art Quilt Challenge. This was my husband's last gift to me and it is dedicated to him - representing his last season of life and traveling up the stairs to reach his eternal home. It may not be chosen for the Challenge, and that is okay. I really enjoyed doing it and creating it layer…Continue
I’ve spent the last four months hand quilting this quilt top, made by my great-great grandmother, Anne Powell Coonley (1820-1916). This is third of Grandma Coonley’s quilt tops I’ve completed, with three more to go. I would estimate it was sewn between 1880-1900 and it’s pretty fragile. Grandma Coonley was quite the proper lady and not one you messed with. Her granddaughter, my maternal grandmother, was scared to death of her! But because she was so revered (or feared), many of her…Continue
We had a challenge on the Piece Around the World group to see how many scraps we could use in 1 project. We had to use a minimum of 40, which sounds like a lot, but really isn't. We also had to have half square triangles be the main design element. This was a fun challenge to do. I looked through all my books & found this table runner in the Big Book of Table Toppers by Martingale. It is called Window Pane. Mine has 69 fabrics in it including the background fabric.…Continue
