I am currently quilting the black/red/whi triangle quilt....of course by hsm....any way, it started off great...I did some free motion in the top and bottom border...tension was great..stitches looked great...i was on a roll. Then I started on the side borders....all heck broke loose...lol! I could not get the tension corrected for nothing in the world...I had a million birds "nesting" on the back side..lol!....(I don't know why I didn't check the tension on the back after a few stitches -… Continue

While reading the messages on Carol Doak's Yahoo group this morning, someone posted the URL to Bonnie Hunter's blog. For those of you who do not know who Bonnie is, she is the owner of the Quiltville site and she is considered the queen of scrap quilting. Anyway, she posted info re: what happened to a Canadian quilter by the name of Daphne Greig as she was coming in to the US through customs to attend spring quilt market in Minneaspolis in May. I will say up front that this incident caused… Continue

I'm off to take a free motion quilting class ALL DAY!!! Yeah, I don't get to do that very often, too busy designing and teaching classes myself. This class is called "Feathers and Fillers". I'll show you the results when I get home.

We have had our GS here all week. Boy has he kept us hopping. He is very active and it is hard to get him to sit down and be quiet. The only time he was was when he watched Sandlot 2. I think he watched it 4 times. We took him swimming 3 times this week to wear him out. His mom and dad are on their way as today is his birthday. They are leaving in the morning to go check into a hotel for his birthday party. We are all going to the baseball game tomorrow night. I have caught a summer cold, so… Continue

As if the Long Beach quilt show wasn't enough, I need another quilty weekend! It was so inspiring that I'm all hepped up to sew some more this weekend. I've got a couple of deadlines - an ATC is due right now, a new appliqued pillow needs to be designed, a baby quilt needs to be started....and none of these have been touched. Wish me luck!
Unfortunately, it's going to be a lovely weekend, weather wise :) . If it were too hot or too rainy, I could stay inside guilt free. I'll still stay… Continue

Last fall, the Hanging by a Thread in Michigan group had a "Winter Block" exchange. I had an idea of what I wanted to do with the blocks, but there was always something else that needed completing first. Well, I got to the blocks in April. I had 13 blocks from the exchange (including mine) and 2 extra blocks that I had made for the exchange. I made 3 more blocks in shades of blue to bring me up to 18 blocks and then added 17 "X" blocks to set them with. I managed to get it sandwiched and the… Continue

I know, I am very happy I have a job and it's doing what I like! But... I have a list of things to get done before I can play! I will get the cleaning out of the way, a little baking for bbq party and I'm going to the Maine quilt show! on a bus, with guild. I've never been on a bus trip w/them. I can hardly wait. Also need to finish a block before next week. 1 block doesn't sound like much, but I have to work w/fabric in colors that I'm not happy with. Too bland. Wonder if I could add some… Continue

We will be visiting Rapid City, SD in Sept. I'm interested in any local shops and possible quilt shows going on during the 17-21. Are there any out of the way antique shops or original Indian artifact shops that we should see? Best eateries, that only the locals know about...we love the out of the way things to do! We would love to visit real Lakota sites and learn a little about their culture first hand. Thanks for all info.

Off To The Fair!
Today is the day all of my little beauties go off to the fair! I will know in a few days the results of the judging. I would show pictures of my work, however I am not sure if the judge reads my blog or not. It wouldn't be "fair" game for him/her to see mine ahead of everyone else's, so alas we will wait.
Chapter 22 is up and perhaps I may yet get in… Continue

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered come with me, with tearful eyes we watched you, as you passed away. Although we loved you dearly we couldn't make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God ...broke our hearts to prove He only takes the ...best.

Well it arrived today! At least in parts. Ha! Parts is not even the word for it. I think DH counted over 300 bolts alone and just sighed. Actually he is in pretty good humor. Why do men see parts of something as a great challenge? To me it is just plain scary. We had ordered only 10 ft poles as the bedroom I am putting it in would accommodate that ok but 12 ft will make it very tight. Guess what?? They sent 12 ft poles. DH is pondering over it and don't know if we will try and work with this or… Continue

This issue has been weighing on me for many weeks. Many of you know by now that we've discovered the network that hosts this site has some limitations. Specifically, on the home page, far right, down a little, there is a list of our members birthdays for the day. The limit to display has always been 20 per day, but in the past, our membership was not so large and most days everyone was displayed.
We've grown! And now that the list is alphabetically, it's very easy for us to see that… Continue

We just celebrated our 42nd anniversary yesterday (gosh, where did all these years go?). It's still quite hot here in Hooksett, so for supper I warmed up a package of Bison with barbecue sauce - wow! was that yummy, no cooking to boot. Served it with just a salad and leftover veggies. For a treat afterwards, DH and I went to a local ice cream parlor. He was hankering for banana split, and got one, while I ordered a double scoop of rum raisin on a cone. Well...the banana split is big enough to… Continue

I've been working on small projects that are fun and quick and lets you use lots of colors and different fabrics. I find that it rejuvinates you with your sewing. I'm making Wonder Wallets and small hand bags with a zipper and quilted patch on front and back. Also, making Snapp Happy little bags which I posted a picture of. Small projects help booste you up, if you know what I mean. These projects are also giving me practice with some machine quilting because they are easy to handle. Colleen… Continue
