New to this

I have just joined and never blogged before. I love reading about all of the quilters and hope to make many friends on here. I often feel like "The Lone Quilter!" as none of my real life friends quilt or even sew! Wishing everyone a Happy New Year with lots of time to sew!

Wishing you a peace-filled New Year!

I'm a newbie there, and although I've dabbled with quilting, I need to learn pretty much from the ground up. So I'm looking forward to everyone's input.

Right now, my house is in such a sad state, courtesy of unfinished remodeling projects, that I can't even get my sewing room set up for use. I'm "encouraging" my hubby to complete some of the projects this week while he's on vacation.

Does anyone else find obstacles like this?

Happy New Year!

I see others have not done blogs before either, but there are times I need an opinion from someone who doesn't already know how I feel. I've been quilting and teaching quilting since 1979, now live north of Oklahoma City. I'm in a small group of 7, we call ourselves the Handmaidens. We like handwork. Most of us also do lots of machine work, but like the de-stressing time that we slow down and do handwork. I also just took on the job of programs for the guild I belong to, and would like to know… Continue

never blogged before

I guess I'm proof you can teach an old dog new tricks!! I mostly shop at my favorite quilt store but have recently sent for things from connecting threads and I have such fun when the parcels come it's like Christmas. I am trying to collect lots of material and embroidery thread so that when I retire I will be able to keep sewing without spending much.
I might be able to help with ideas for memory quilts as I have made a number.

Yaaaaay! Back to Quilting!

Thanks, Connecting Threads, for the Quilting Community! The KP Knitting Community has had me obsessed with knitting, and I have been missing my quilting!

Happy New Year!

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year. I do hope to get some quilting done at some point today. It's snowing here but I have to take my daughter to her friend's house. Let's hope the roads aren't too bad. We plan on staying in tonight and eating! Not too exciting but fine with us. I think this whole website is such a great idea! I'm having fun looking at everything it has to offer. Anyone else out there from Massachusetts? Happy New Year!!

So glad to have found a quilting community

I am so happy to see this quilting community!!! I have been longing for one to be started. Along the same line there is a fantastic knitting community called "Ravelry" and it's a great resource of ideas and knowledge and satifies the knitting bug in me. What I love most about these sites is provides a great incentive to get those projects started and finished. I look forward to quilting along.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone. I was on a very busy Quiltswappers chat site years ago. But got to busy and decided to stop. I really liked the ideas, funny stories, and the quilts each one shared with us. There was always someone who could help with you with a problem. I looked forward to chatting with everyone. Brenda

Happy New Year!!!

When I got the email from CT's I couldn't wait to check it out. This is great! I am hoping to meet new friends here and maybe learn some new ideas. This is a wonderful place to be. All my girlfriends come to me for their quilting or crafting gifts. None of them are interested in this art. I am looking forward to making new friends who have the same interests as I do.

First Timer

I was very pleased to see this new addition to Connecting Threads. This is the first time that I have ever written or even viewed a Blog. I have been a quilter for over 20 years, and I am at a loss as to what pattern to use for a photo memory quilt. It is for someone who recently lost her husband and I have collected pictures from various years. Should I just use sashing or what? I would appreciate any help. p.s. what do tags mean in a blog?

New from Texas

Hello everyone and Happy New Year

I love Connecting Threads I have purchased some kits that I have not done yet because I have not had the time, well I have retired and I am looking forward to working on my kits that I have purchased. I have been working on table toppers and place mats for Christmas presents. I have not taken any photos of my projects but, I am going to start doing that and make a portfolio of what I have made. I am self taught and I enjoy doing hand quilting. I know… Continue

Happy New Year everyone!!! love to machine quilt --have a 12 foot Nolting quilting machine in the living room, which the jack russell dog does not like---also he doesn't like sewing machines or irons!!! But, I keep doing my quilting anyway. Just got the Cotton Theory books and they look like a lot of fun for a different way of quilting. Look forward to reading about all the projects you have. karen (KS)

Happy New Year

I have quilted off and on for about 30 years. I have designated 2009 the year of the quilt. I still consider myself a beginner so I look forward to learning from everyone who participate in this blog. My goal for this year is to finish the many projects that I have started over the years and never finished. I hope everyone has a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. Thank you Connecting Threads for this opportunity.

Missing old friends

Hi Everyone

I used to belong to a chat room on AOL-over 10 years ago-after moving several times and changing computers and internet providers I have lost the website. If there is anyone from that old chat room I'd love to hear from you. I have been in a slump with my quilting. I keep buying fabric but can't decide what to make with it. I lost my spare room to a grandchild so now I work in the basement and it just doesn't have the lighting or feeling I need for quilting. I really need… Continue

Another Newbie, from Western NC

Hi Everyone!

Another quilting forum just starting up, how exciting! Hubby & I are empty nesters, three kids & two grandkids, all grown, kids that is, & living in CA, where we moved here from in 97'. Got seriously into quilting long about 7 years ago, or maybe longer, haven't kept track. Been sewing most of my life, & was quilting printed stuff, long before I took the plunge, on my own, & started piece quilting, & haven't looked back. I still sew a bit of… Continue

Hello everyone. Happy New Year!

Thanks for the invitation to join. I make mostly baby quilts and most of those are embroidered. I will post some pics as soon as I get them transferred to this computer.
I am hoping to gather a lot of useful information from all the talented quilters on this site!

New Canadian Member

Hello Everyone: I have been a customer of Connecting Threads for several years and think it is just about the best mail order company there is! I've been quilting for a little over 20 years and enjoy teaching at our local quilt shop. I specialize in an 8-week beginner course and also teach many half-day and one-day classes. I live in the most southern part of Ontario just north of the Lake Erie shore and would love to hear from other quilters anywhere! I have had quilting penpals around the… Continue
