Hubby made this mistake on Saturday...

Seriously, I was ready to kill him! Cleaning windows and mopping floors and he thinks he's going to cross that floor with his shoes on after doing yard work!!! Finishing up my 6 purses this morning. Next on the list is an I Spy quilt for new parents in August.…

Tis the season in April???

I must have been out of my mind when... I agreed to make 6 purses for a lifelong friend. She wants them for her sisters for Christmas. Promises are promises...Again, I'm trying to get this off my list before summer gets here. This weather can't seem to make up it's mind...…

A Quilt for Aiden

Finally finished the quilt for grandson Aiden.  He picked out the floral print and the white fabric in the center of the blue blocks.  Sense they didn't quite go together I came up with this design and used the fabrics Aiden liked.  I hope that I will be able to get this quilted before christmas.  I start this project using a light blue that I ran out of after making half the blocks I needed.  Once I found the turquoise color I decided to start over and worked out the quilt below.  As for…

A Mystery

I have been doing alterations for many year but yesterday I was taking the hem out of a Winter coat and found in the whole width of the hem a black powder that looked like gun powder.  I was up at the hall with friends and they agreed with me. So they suggested I call the police to check out the substance. I didn't have my phone with me so one of the ladies called. They came and said it was probably some rotted thin rubber that is sometimes put in garments and not to be alarmed. Has anyone…

Spring time

Hi friends,

I'm doing pretty well. It's been about 3 1/2 months now since Dennis' passing. I have pretty much found my new 'normal' .  I spent Easter down in Oregon with my son, but also visiting a very close friend who was just diagnosed with a type of glioblastoma. Hers is not operable at all. She hopes to start chemo and radiation very soon. It was good seeing her. I hope to get down again later in May.

Not much time or energy to be in my sewing room. I keep busy with three…

Happy Springtime...

The best part of Spring is all the pretty flowers! Luckily, we don't have allergies, so I have fresh flowers all the time. We had a very nice Easter with our son and his family! They surprised the boys with tickets to the first home Michigan game. As you can see, they are huge fans! I finished the tree skirt for a wedding gift in July. I am so glad to have that off the list. This week will be cleaning windows and screens now the weather is nicer. …

Finally something to show

The picture below is a pair of blocks I've been working on.  the dark blue with the white center is only one of three different blocks that will be in the quilt.  It may take me a while to finally get all the blocks put together but then I do have until christmas to get it finished.  LOL  Seems to me I said that about another quilt that I am working on for my grandson.  still not finished with that one either.  The 2nd picture is the first row of blocks to  be put together.…

High Fiber—Steek, Not Steak!

Autocorrect has finally learned that steek and steeking are acceptable words in the English language. Its most common word to substitute (as in "change it to") is steak, with steep a close second. However, this is a steek:…

Happy National Quilting Day

Have you all been quilting today?  I have been making labels that will go on the backs of Quilts of Valor quilts.  I was going to baste a quilt, but didn't have the right size batting & didn't want to cut into a larger one.  I should just order 60" Quilters Dream cotton by the case as that is my favorite size as I can machine quilt them with no problem.
