In search of...

Cream mirage flannel from CT (circa 2012).  It matches the cream/neutral in this kit:

Need about a yard if anyone would be willing to part with some in their stash.  Thanks for checking!

New 'normal'

Hi everyone!

First... can you believe it, our Miss Bailey is 9 years old today!

The memorial service for my husband was on Groundhog's Day. He loved that movie and his tradition was to watch it over and over all day long.  I'm so thankful it was that…

High Fiber—Repairs and Registrations

One of the planned chores I had set for myself this past week was to repair this hole in my favorite afghan.

In the bleakness of winter, I look forward to spring

I have another pattern that has just been published in a magazine.

"May Baskets" is a tribute to many of my favorite spring flowers, and a memory of sharing them with friends and neighbors on the first day of May.

The pattern for the table runner has been published in the February 2019 issue of The Quilt Pattern Magazine.…

Back to the drawing board

I've been on vacation this week and while trying to work on the house I also found time to try and work on my quilt.  The picture below is the never gonna make it again quilt on the new floor in our living room.  Everything was going great until I walked around and discovered that the backing on the far end of the quilt was not long enough.  I probably could have stretched the backing more but I wasn't in the mood.  I had already taped the backing to the floor and laid everything out and…

Vintage Baby Bunting

This wall hanging was made from 9 Dresden plate blocks from the 1940s. I bought them from a friend with an antique store. Each block was made of 4 smaller fan blocks, so I took the big blocks apart and rearranged the fans into the baby bunting pattern. The fans were appliquéd on muslin and looked a little drab, so I appliquéd the blue quarter circles on each fan to perk them up a bit. It’s machine pieced, hand appliquéd and hand quilted and measures about 31” square. …

High Fiber—Life Goes On

We're having some nice weather, with temperatures in the 50-60ºF range (in January!), so on Saturday, we took the pups to the dog park.

Stopping in to say hello

It is a nice sunny morning here in the East but very cold. Good weather to sit and sew. But lately I have found that other things have been chewing up my time and keeping me from my sewing room. I'm working on another baby quilt.  I have a lot of UFO's to finish once these quilts are done.

I'm enjoying the quilting guild that I joined a year ago. We have a page on F B. It's called St. Croix International Quilters. Lots of pictures to see.

I belong to three sewing groups. I get…

High Fiber—Approaching Normal

On Sunday, we finally had some real snow here in Bend. I think it was a little over an inch.

Successful weekend...

Snowstorms definitely lend themselves to getting a few projects done. Had several blocks leftover from other projects. So, I made up some hotpad runners for both houses and hostess gifts. Kept me out of the refrigerator!!! We leave next week for FL. I can feel the tan coming!!!…

Snow is coming...

You midwesterners just had to share the white stuff...we are predicted to get 12-20inches here in Syracuse. Decided to beat the storm surge at the grocery and liquor stores, so we went yesterday to stock up. I also stopped by the fabric store to buy a few yards for an UFO that I want to take to FL. I'm not always in the pool! So...let it snow...we're ready!…

How did I get myself into this mess?

So previously I posted a picture of my version of the broken star quilt that I will never make again. See photo below.  Today I spent most of the day learning how to use the Cricut Maker that I bought last year.  I posted a photo before of the designs that I wanted to put onto this quilt.  Well I finally got them cut out and ready to transfer to the quilt.  I've put in a request to use my daughters floor sense she has a big house and open floor space to lay out the quilt and trace the…

Sheep Shape quilt pattern question

I have this pattern called Sheep Shape baby quilt. When I go to print off the templates,it has a "legend" at the bottom of page - it's a straight line that is to measure 2 inches. When I print off the template, the line is only 1 3/4". I am printing at 100% like it says to do - my question is, will my pattern still work? One lady at a quilt shop said "no"it won't. but I can't find anyone or anywhere to answer my question. Can someone please help e? My daughter wants this quilt for her baby.…

High Fiber—The Quiet After the Tornado

It has been a rough two weeks. My "flu" turned out to be pneumonia, and then, before I was recovered, I caught a cold from DH. Each day is a little better, though, and I'm finally able to sleep at night, propped up on pillows. I've made some progress on the Nurmilintu Shawl, though.
