LOVE quilt

I usually only share on the Giftie forum, but I'll share here today. This is what I'm currently working on. It's a pattern from Sam Hunter of Hunter's Design Studio. These are the colors she made hers with and I just loved them so much I decided to use the same colors for a gift for my niece's wedding. This is just the top. I'm almost done quilting it. Now both of my daughters want me to make one for them too! This picture does not do the colors justice though.…

Success of a website depends on PARTICIPATION

We have been so fortunate to have a place to share and learn new things about our passion. We're all busy, but take some time to participate and help make this the site it use to be. This is not just about quilting, it is about sharing...so let's see some new faces and projects. Have a great day!

A huge Thank You to Connecting Threads for allowing us all these years to share!

I think I'm addicted!

I have really enjoyed making purses & totes.  They are a great way to use up fabrics that you just had to have, but only bought a yard of.  They are especially fun when you can make part of them using an embroidery machine.  Here is my latest.  I did the sewing motifs on my emb machine & finished the rest on my Pfaff.  The designs are from Sweet Pea (swpea.com).…

A Season of Change

I just finished my art quilt for the Cherrywood Fabrics Bob Ross Art Quilt Challenge. This was my husband's last gift to me and it is dedicated to him - representing his last season of life and traveling up the stairs to reach his eternal home.  It may not be chosen for the Challenge, and that is okay.  I really enjoyed doing it and creating it layer…

Quilting with Grandma Coonley

I’ve spent the last four months hand quilting this quilt top, made by my great-great grandmother, Anne Powell Coonley (1820-1916). This is third of Grandma Coonley’s quilt tops I’ve completed, with three more to go. I would estimate it was sewn between 1880-1900 and it’s pretty fragile. Grandma Coonley was quite the proper lady and not one you messed with. Her granddaughter, my maternal grandmother, was scared to death of her! But because she was so revered (or feared), many of her…

another table runner

We had a challenge on the Piece Around the World group to see how many scraps we could use in 1 project.  We had to use a minimum of 40, which sounds like a lot, but really isn't.  We also had to have half square triangles be the main design element.  This was a fun challenge to do.  I looked through all my books & found this table runner in the Big Book of Table Toppers by Martingale.  It is called Window Pane.  Mine has 69 fabrics in it including the background fabric.…

I found it...my last UFO

How about that! I promised myself I wasn't starting another project until all UFOs were in an active stage. I have one at the lake that I'm hand quilting and one here at the house that I'm hand quilting. This one I'm machine quilting for a retirement gift. She has been Gary's right hand lady...she will be greatly missed.

Since summer is upon us...I'll end with this:…

my latest finish

My husband & I are going to New Orleans next month to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, which also falls on Father's Day.  I wanted either a purse or a tote that was bright & cheery to take along so I went through my stash & found these 2 fabrics.  The tote is the Candice tote by Lazy Girl designs.  As you can see in the 2nd picture, the front is also a pocket.  I like to carry my credit cards & cash in those little zippered pouches so I made one of those to match.…
