This is the latest project I did for the Gifty Galore group. I used our Indigo Patchwork fabrics. It was a lot of fun!
The ‘sweet & simple’ part of the name is remarkably accurate. Everyone who has seen it has…Continue
My friend did a great job with re-quilting my quilt disaster quilt. I finished hand stitching down the binding last evening so here are a couple of pics of it. I'm going to do a 2nd label that will have the name of my friend who quilted it for me as I didn't have room to put all the info on the original label. My DH came up with that brilliant suggestion. …Continue
My daughter discarded this t-shirt long time ago and was in the rag bin. I pulled it out, and the idea-bulb lighted up! It must over 12 years old, full of stain and ripped at some places, but the back of the t-shirt was in good shape, so... another project done!
The Abundance Table Runner was a fun pattern to sew; of course I loved it because it’s Quilt As You Go. I love the fact that once I’m done sewing I can just bind it and be done. I really liked the tree design and since it’s done in our…Continue
Years ago, hubby had a trip to San Fran...he went shopping bless his heart...and brought me back this gem: You can stop laughing...it would have been cheaper to fly him back to return it...BUT, being the grateful wife, I made over it...a few months went by and we had the opportunity to go back to CA again. We were going by the shop, where he bought it, he wants to get the"…Continue
Many of you know that we moved to a new place about a week and a half ago now. We've been really busy unpacking and putting away all of our stuff -- some of that putting away has been to giveaway boxes. I think our possessions multiplied the year they were in storage! LOL Yesterday I started on my quilt room and today I got it "finished" -- everything has a place to be. I will be going through things a bit more leisurely and undoubtedly more items will find their way to the giveaway…Continue
Here in NW corner of Wisconsin we have been blessed with great weather since late snow in spring and slow to start summer. We still have had no frost; usual first frost is end of August or early September. I covered annuals 2 nights but no frost. By now I usually have dismantled all the annuals from pots and clipped most of perennials. Both are still blooming! A few have kind of "petered" out but most still beautiful. Grass is still green and DH is still mowing weekly. Guess Mother…Continue
Being my day off work I decided to get out and enjoy the last day of our summer here in the northwest. I hit the coffee shop for my latte, stopped to visit my old boss, and made a couple stops at stores along the way. one of the stores was the local Joann's fabrics. I was just wandering around looking for something to get into trouble with and found our Debbie hanging on the wall. Not the real Debbie but one of her patterns:…Continue
Over a year and a half ago when Richard from The Design Library was in town to show us vintage artwork, we ended up leasing a very special piece. The focal in Indigo Patchwork looks very different now than…Continue
Celestial paper pieced Cloaked Wizard…my mom found this fabric at a garage sale for me…it’s been waiting for the perfect place to make its appearance…tada! And I have probably 2 more yards of it just in case I need more some day! This pattern is from the set Wand Wielders…Continue
When, I go antiquing, I search out linens and hand stitched pillowcases. The stitching on them is so gorgeous. I like to give a set that matches up with the quilt I make. I did not realize how many I had bought! They are usually yellowed...so have been cutting off the cuffs and putting them on queen size percale cases. Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas!!! Cases without quilts!!!!…Continue
Ok so I'm not exactly alone, I do have the dogs and the other half here but the daughter and grand kids are still on vacation some where. I have really enjoyed the more or less quiet time. Yes my dogs do bark at everything that moves but then they eat and sleep on the furniture the rest of the day.
I have made great strides in working on my new quilt pattern. The center pieced curves are done and waiting on the side lines for the rest of the units to get put together to make the…Continue
My DD got married Sept 8th in the Finger Lakes, NY area. What a beautiful place! Wish I'd had more time to spend in the area.
DD and SIL chose to have a very intimate wedding - immediate families and closest friends only, no extended family. I surprised the wedding couple with a quilt signed by extended family members (all grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins) as well as wedding attendees. We used it during the ceremony to represent the love of the extended families as we wrapped…Continue
I finished the Denim Quilt last night. I am giving it to my daughter's friend this evening. She is so excited to receive it. I am calling this quilt "The Quilt of Love" in memory of her grandpa, Sonny Pa. We decided to do a reverse heart stitch. I really enjoyed making this quilt. I can't wait to give it too her this evening. …Continue
I finally figured how to do it! Post pictures, that is. This is a picture of my little 4th of July quilt. Although you can't read it in the photo, I put the phrases of the first verse of "God Bless America" in each block around the outside. The inside blocks have things associated with the 4th of July celebration like fireworks, parades, picnic in the park, etc. I made a lot of mistakes (I won't tell you about those) and I learned a lot.…Continue
I must admit, Fall is my favorite season; however, here in north central Ohio, it doesn't seem to last as long as it did when I was a kid growing up in Columbus. Now it seems as though the leaves all turn, fall, and blow away within the space of 2 weeks! My goodness - how times and memories change. I swear, sometimes the wind blows so hard here in the Fall, that I'm positive our leaves end up in Pennsylvania within a matter of minutes. Then, of course, as soon as they've all made it to…Continue
Vintage Stitchers met on Thursday at Barbara's. She was trying to get some advice about her new batik quilt.
The pattern is a "block of the month" (BOM) from Kreative Threads. The pattern name is “Bits and Pieces.”
Barbara put the quilt on the piano so we could…Continue
Newborn flannel boy quilt all ready to be shipped out machine quilted to be super durable. Last of the super cute panels I purchased at Douber’s before it went belly up. This will be going to God’s Tiny Angels http://danettesangels.tripod.com/ September 15th 2013
Being of short stature, I use thick padded cushions on my chairs so as to add a few inches height in order to be comfortable when dining or doing any work that requires resting my 'duff'.
The cushions have somewhat thinned out (thanks to a 200+ DH), and stained after so many years of use. I figure I could wait till the cushions are on sale at either Walmart or K-Mart, but then I realized I have upholstery fabric remnants that I bought years ago when I thought I was going to lose my…Continue
So I finally started working on some projects that have been sitting around.
The other half has a daughter and two grand kids that live in what use to be my sewing room. His daughter really should have taken parenting classes. Sometimes I feel like I spend more time watching her kids than she does. These two little girls can get into things faster than a bolt of lightning and then they fight between themselves which brings on the screaming match. This doesn't bother the mother of…Continue
