Great idea for the fisherman in the family...

I saw this photo online and thought it would be a great addition to our "fishing" themed guest room at the lake... So, I had hubby go to the attic and get one of his grandparent's pole. I don't have a big wall so had to double up the frames. I did have a wooden fish to add. I think it turned out cute. Will put pictures of the grandsons' activities at the lake every year.…

The Taylor Children

I made this small crazy quilt to honor the memory of my grandmother and her siblings. Their mother died in Dec. 1904, and their father immediately took the children to his family’s farm in New York, before leaving them and returning to Wisconsin a month later. The children were split up and taken in by four families in different towns. What was unusual was that the…

Quilt show, machine quilting and crazy

I'm in the midst of working at our local quilt show and trying to get my proverbial act together. At least the quilt show is fun. I entered my machine quilted items. Two. I'm a novice machine quilter so this is pretty scary stuff.

It's a sampler so I quilted each block with a different technique and there's about six in the border.

 And then there's the…

Peek A Boo Table Runner

I know I’m beating a dead horse (really where did that saying come from? I know I could Google it but I’m just too lazy) but Quilt As You Go is amazing. Gudrun is really a genius when it comes to new applications for this technique. In the Peek A Boo Table Runner you see her cleverly curved lines. I really love how the colors from the…

my pup is trying to assist me

He was way to quite!  So when I went to look for him, I found him with fabric in his mouth, and trying to get into this closet.

Most days I love him....but not when he misses with my fabric!

Don't you just love road treasures....

I was picking up my grandson from school the other day. It is about 12 miles from here and not my usual road pattern. Sooo, I'm checking out the garage sales going on and one caught my eye. Lookee what I found...I have not seen this pattern before. It's in great shape, washed up well. She was basically closing the sale down and said just take it, I won't do anything with it. I couldn't do that...so I gave her $20. Have a wedding in the Spring, the bride loves old quilts... she'll love it!…

One Twins cuddle quilt finished.

Here is a photo of Rian's snuggle quilt and I have one to finish with sashing and FMQ for Rhys. We are hoping to visit with them later in Oct. I am really getting excited to see them. They are growing fast and we are fortunate to see them on Facetime and they are now beginning to smile.

Here is Rian snuggle.…

High Fiber—Beautiful Bears, Bigger Blankets and Budget Books

Joanie has finished another bear for the Mother Bear Project:

You can just see the petticoat with a picot edge peeking out from under the skirt. (Joanie is a fantastic designer.) These bears go to children who have HIV/AIDS, mostly in African countries. Each one has a tag with the name of the…

The Elusive 1/4" Seam

Ah, the elusive 1/4" seam.  Seems no matter what I do I can no longer sew an accurate 1/4" seam.  Why, you ask?  I do not know.  Could be the old eyes, I've had two cataract surgeries and one scar tissue removal (the last scar tissue removal to be done next Monday).  How I miss my old (never 20/20 but still better than this) eyesight.  I used to do a lot of hand embroidery too - now the eyes protest!

I am working on "Spooktacular Row Quilt", a kit from CT.  I may have to rename it…

I now have my own magic closet

Or an alternative title would be " 60% of the house now being used for quilts" according to my husband.

Thanks for taking a peek.

Lucy's Menagerie quilt handed over.

The quilt made from blocks made by my daughter's friends and family has at last been handed over. While it has taken until Lucy's first birthday it has come at the best age for her. She has already found the eyes on all the animals.

Another little one of 18 months found and named the lion, the kitty cat, the dog and the penguin. The label is another animal.…

What to do with old shoes and more

Below is a pic of my deceased son's shoes.  I kept telling him that he should get new shoes; his reply, "Mom, there just broke in."  When he died I told his wife I wanted those old shoes; after 11 years of planting in them they look a lot worse than when he last wore them.  I've tried a variety of annuals in them but these hens and chicks work the best; I think I can just winter them right in the shoes outside.…

Parting is such a sorrow!

How do you explain to a dog that her favorite playmate is moving?  Our neighbor is moving to another town; funny, but Bianca knows the sound of his car, and around 3:30 she asks to go the door.  Sure enough, 10 minutes later, our neighbor and his dog would come through the back woods, and the dogs would play for 10-15 minutes while us humans talk a bit.

The past few days Bianca would look at me, and go to the door around 3 pm, so I let her out.  She goes to the back yard expecting…

Family Rules quilt in progress...

I have been commissioned to make a Family Rules baby quilt for my niece, who is gifting it to a friend.  The problem I ran into was that I couldn't find any fabric with this popular trend.   what to do?  Well i went ahead and designed some.  Thanks to spoonflower.com I had my design printed, and the results are fantastic.

This particular design is my aged background.

If anyone would like to obtain some of this fabric you can visit my spoonflower shop found…

Another UFO done

Need Some Info

I've been looking at the Grace SureStitch Stitch Regulator for my Brother PQ1500s machine.  It's kind of pricey so wondered if anyone has this or have heard anything about it.  I appreciate anything you gals can tell me.
