Here is a pic of a pillow I finished today. This is my 1st time adding a ruffle & it turned out to be easier than I thought it would be.

Just had some trick or treaters. We haven't had any in recent years, but ever the optimist I bought some candy anyway and now I'm glad I did (even though I know I'll eat the leftovers and I definitely don't need it). It was cute to see the little kids dressed up. We live on acre lots with mostly teens and grown kids so not many trick or treaters. Now on to plans for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays becuase we get to have the… Continue

I'm back from my overnight trip to the Seattle area. I went over to attend the service for my BFF's dad, who died last week. It was great reconnecting with people I knew many years ago, and having some time alone with my BFF. We had breakfast today and chatted for almost 2 hours. It was great. Last… Continue

. Good evening. .. Well, Halloween is over for this year. I sat here waiting for my trick or treaters to come to the door, sewing....I did my blanket stitch around my Snowman needlebook. I completed 2. One according to directions....the other one I put an extra 2 pages in it as Mari suggested. Fun projects...I loved making them. Maybe, I'll do a couple more....while I wait for the next door to open. I had about 35 - 40 children come trick or treating tonight. It was great...the weather was… Continue

This is my 12th finish for this yr. Seeing this top is scrappy I decided to use the 4" cw fabric squares I've been collecting for awhile for the backing so it's a real scrappy… Continue

I had forgotten about this blog site untill I received a happy birthday comment. I just want to say happy birthday to all the other people that have a birthday today. I am glad to still be alive; but I hate the number ( 71 ) it sounds soooooooo old and I don't feel that old in my mind. I am sure you all know what I mean; but the older you are the more it hits you.
I hope everyone has a happy day!

Prairie Quilter had said she wondered how many quilts you could make with 1000 lbs. of polyester fiber. The load weighed 43,000 lbs and they use it to make pet beds. The approx. 4 ft square bales were compressed so I'm sure after they are fluffed up they would make quite a few beds. The freight that I saw that was ready to be shipped was going to Sam's Club.
DH isn't coming home this weekend after all. They changed his load and he delivers in the morning in Fort Worth, TX. Maybe we… Continue

I more than like quilting, it is a necessary part of my sanity. Being able to go to my sewing room and shut the door for an hour or so a couple of times during the week provides me with the mental fortitude I need to get through a work week. So how is it that the week gets sucked away into everything else? For example:
Monday - Deal with school parent/tearcher association treasurer stuff and pay own bills (well it has to get done at some point, I do need electricity to… Continue

I've been touched by the encouragement, prayers and suggestions and they are certainly appreciated. I hope to answer all of you but just in case I can't do it soon, I just wanted you acknowledge you.
I'm making a list and preparing for my down time and trying to get as much done without hurting myself before the surgeries. I have a feeling I'll be catching up on movies during my downtime. :)

Okay this is just unheard of .... but I have no excuse ..should be able to get even more sewing done today..just watching regis/kelly then off to the sewing studio..to finish the BOM's..and quilt a couple baby quilts. I'm still working on a large quilt to mark. If any of you get AQS magazine it was in there from Great American Quilt Factory and we here in Denver did it as a monthly block. I just added more borders to make it into a double for my aunt in Nebraska. I had to miter the border as… Continue

I know we have a lot of groups here, 88 groups actually. I noticed that we don't have a group for those of us who quilt on domestic machines. I would love to see someone start one so that those of us still struggling could benefit from those of you who are more advanced!
Won't someone please take up the challenge?
Some of us,
uh I could use your help! I would start it but I already have two groups (Scrap Bags and In Love With Strings) so I don't think I could manage a… Continue

Thanks new friends for all your help on my "row robin" with the love/marriage theme ...it's complete. The sites you recommended helped A LOT!! I ended up doing a nosgay, single wedding ring, valentine, lover's lane and broken dishes (we all need a little humor right?)
I can't wait for next month when I will get a new row to do....who knows maybe you'll hear from me again needing help!

Hi. What a beautiful Autumn Day here in New England. After yesterday, Rain, Cold, and Damp...Today, the sun came out, the air is cool and crisp. We took a nice ride to Foxboro, to the Patriots Place Store. I wanted to pick up a Patriots Cap for my little grandson. Then of course we had to stop at the Christmas Tree Shop and purchased a few items that I really don't need. The Halloween things were all 50% off...So....I brought home 3 bags full. Now I'm home, and I'm going to work on Mari's… Continue

Can you believe it's November? The holidays are right around the corner, and I know the invites for cookie exchanges, family dinners, and holiday parties are going to start arriving in my mail box any day now! Plus, there's the holiday shopping to get done, gifts to make, cards to send, holiday recipes to bake... It feels like every year my holiday to-do list gets longer and longer!
How do you manage your holiday to-do lists and still get all your quilting done? Post a tip in the… Continue

I'm facing the inevitable carpel tunnel release surgery that many quilters experience in mid-November and a hysterectomy in early December. Although I'm not looking forward to these surgeries, I'm very thankful that I have health insurance. I hope that I never experience the mental anguish that many suffer when faced with the need to have surgery and not be able to have it done.
I won't be able to sew for several weeks following the surgeries and won't regain my strength for several… Continue
