Spitzenstuecke

Hello everybody,

I finished this quilt only a few days ago. It is probably my fastest work yet! The piecing is not difficult except for the two set in pieces in the lower right quarter of the quilt, but the free-motion machine quilting did take some time.

All the fabrics in the quilt…

High Fiber—Family Visits, Part Two

We have been having a nice visit with Daphne and her family.

The Bees' Knees cardigan fit just the way I wanted: a little big, so she can wear it for a long time. The socks fit about the same way:

A Pendleton plaid coat just for Pasquale!

First I will start this post off by saying...YES, Pasquale is spoiled.  Very very spoiled!!  But I will also say that I do make most everything I do out of necessity.  Since I've had Pasquale....going on 7 years, he's only had one jacket, and it was old and really small for him.  So for over a year now I knew I wanted to make him a coat, and specifically a raincoat.  He doesn't much like walking in the rain, so I thought a hood would be mandatory.  With his big ears, who could blame him, I'm…

Bloom Creek Quilts for Sale

For those of you who might be interested, I've added a new category to my web site called "Bloom Creek Quilts for Sale".  I'm busting at the seams with quilts and must make room for my newer quilts, so I've decided to sell some of the quilt models that were used on my pattern covers.  Happy quilting to all of you. . . . How to make a Rectangle out of a Square?

I just received a new CT catalog and am quite taken with the Charlottesville collection.  I especially like the "Stars on Point" kit.  But I have a personal problem with square quilts, which this is.  We use our quilts and since the human body is longer than it is wide, that is how I like our quilts to be.  I am tempted to order the kit and some extra fabric to make a rectangular quilt, but am not sure how to do this.  I'm sure this is simple to most of you, so I am asking for some…

Fall Is In The Air

Fall is my favorite time of the year. The colors are fantastic. Not that summer is not colorful but Fall has colors of its own. I won the Block of the Month at our CVHQ Group in 2002 and gingerly put it in my trunk of UFO's. Well the trunk is almost overflowing and have decided that I must either finish all my UFO's or donate to someone who would. As I was deciding what to do with all of them I could not resist completing this one. Each person made 2 blocks. Wish that I would have written…

Is This Where I Get To Thank The Academy?

Yeah, so every now and again I need to take a break from the Internet. Believe it or not, it gets a bit stressful trying to keep up on everything here at the RKMQUILTS mega empire.

So, yesterday was one of those days. This morning, I sat down with my… Continue

I'm still here

I have not forgotten anyone here, I just don't get to post as often as I would like. Everything else seems to get in the way. I have been busy sewing quilts for Cancer Patients. I have now completed 3. Can't find the first one I delivered but here are the last two delivered on Tuesday.

Too long!

Too long since I last posted.  Guess life gets in the way.  But, life is good.

Went to quilt camp Wed-Sun last week; went with 14 other quilters from my group, Scrappies.  Great fun, laughs, food friendship.  Plus, accomplished a good amount of sewing.  Almost finished a tablerunner and started matching place mats.  Made them with a method new to me-quilt as you go and are reversible.  Coffee theme on one side and wine theme on other side.  I like the method so much that I am doing a…

Sunshine and Shadows

I received an e-mail today, from Kit's family, letting me know that Margaurite "Kit" Rosskamp passed away from lung cancer on the 24th.  She became ill on the 19th and died on the 24th.  We will all miss her!

Any Suggestions?

Hello....with the cold weather upon us, I'm thinking ahead to Christmas and I would like any suggestions.  I work part time at our local elementary school.  Each year all staff is asked to take a small group of children (9 to 10 students) and read a Christmas story and then do a craft with them.  The craft does not have to go along with the story, but I always think that's a nice touch.  Last year I read my all time favorite Christmas story,  A Charlie… Continue

When you have a dream in the sewing field.

I always had the dream that I would be well known for my sewing. Only I still am learning when it come to garment making. The fashion club has been meeting more this week because we are having a Fall Festival at the high school for the town kids. All clubs are helping. I have gotten to know more about the students and their dreams in fashion, even if that is not garment making. The best thing I learn tonight was that three of the students want to go to fashion design school. It is exciting that… Continue

I"ve started my next project!

I finally got motivated to start my next project the other day.  Only problem is that it's not the one that I posted a picture of on my page. I was pulling out material the other day to start a project and found some of the ones that I had ordered from Connecting Threads a while ago.  I ordered what is called the Burnt Orange in the mirage solids. Then I ordered more because I liked the color (No one really does that, do they?).  Sense I had printed out numerous pictures of the quilts that I…

Still not particularly satisfied!

I've been working on this piece since VQF and after many unsewing moments, I still haven't got it perfect.

So it will be what it will be!…
