Well he's not Cinderella but he is adorable

Happy Halloween to everyone.   I sent text message to DD the other night asking how Aiden was doing. He seems to have bronchitis and was at the Doctors the other night on a resperator. DD text back, not well come help me please. This was accompanied by a picture of a pumpkin.  Confussed I called.  She says her phone is dying and to come over.  Still confused I drive over and let myself in as I have a key to their house.  DD is in the kitchen carving a pumpkin. Aiden is in his high chair next…

Cinderella Bailey

Here's our not so little Miss Bailey in her Cinderella dress I made her.  I think she likes it! She asked for a blue sparkly Cinderella dress that she could wear to bed so the birds could wake her up.  Well, she has the blue sparkly Cinderella dress, but I made her a blue "Cinderella" nightgown and included a letter from Cinderella to her.  She has been…

Yep, it sure feels like Halloween!

Wow! It's nearly 60 degrees, rainy and foggy here in Madison, WI today. Yesterday, I couldn't see beyond our rail on the balcony due to fog-and it lasted ALL DAY! I suppose there is more of that to come!

Working on a few recipes for my upcoming blogs on www.TheDanglingThread.blogspot.com  this afternoon. Ham and Potato Chowder, Cheesy Biscuits and Apple Turnovers will be coming up in the next few…

Sewing with Shamus

Fat quarter waiting their turn under the iron…quite the assortment here…for every 2 fat quarters (I like having coordinating fabrics) I can make 2 small Teeny Diapers and one 12 inch square blanket. October 28th 2013 I can’t wait to have time for a hearty ironing session!

My 100 Little Dresses Project

So, here I am working towards a personal goal of sewing together 100 Little Dresses for Africa by August 2014! I have almost 29 completed already, so I am off to a great start!

My Little Dresses are officially called Little Dresses Around The World, since ours are distributed to other ministries and social agencies here in Madison and the Wisconsin area in addition to the orphanage in Tanzania that our church supports.

I am assuming that many of you have made these dresses…

Fabric organization - Does this title make you cringe or celebrate?

The time has indeed come.  Or better said, shoulda done this long ago.  And that's as harsh as I'm going to be to myself - I'm doing it now.

Looked up different systems.  Chose one that'll work for me.  Printed up the cardstock file in the link above from craftystaci's blog.  As of last night, I was able to finish about 20% of fabric by…

Not just for quilting

You know those new little clips for holding your binding on while you hand stitch it?  Well, this weekend I found another great use for them.  I was making a vinyl window/door for the skid loader here at the retreat. It will help keep the elements out this winter and hopefully keep the fellows inside a bit warmer. I sandwiched the vinyl between two layers of outdoor fabric and used the clips to hold it together while I stitched. Worked GREAT!…

Been A Very Long Time!

Like other quilters who suddenly disappear after blogging on here day after day--I too fell into the trap of becoming too busy! Sorry!

It's been a year now since we moved from Indianapolis to Madison, WI and finally our life has settled down and I can get back into my daily blogs and writing!  I have also started taking new speaking gigs for 2014.

For those of you who "lost" me there for awhile, I apologize. I have now combined everything into ONE

place--finally!  The…

Lasting Legacies Block of the Month ~ Block 1

This is our 1st block. We will begin building it November 18th. It is made from our Lasting Legacies civil war reproduction collection. I just love this block because of the dimensional affects. It looks like a ribbon! If you are interested…

Quilt retreat

I'm back from retreat. We spent Wednesday morning to Sunday afternoon sewing, quilting, sharing, laughing and avoiding everything serious. 62 of us. Pictures later--but--I made a card table playhouse which took WAY longer than I expected, bound two small quilts, worked on a 30 year old cross stitch, ate too much chocolate--no, that's not possible--experimented with the DWR concept, and I can't remember the rest.

The distance prize went to the 400 mile woman but several were in…

High Fiber—Bare Bones Dismantle

Halloween is nearly upon us! Was it worth waiting for?

I'll let you know next week. Something that I've been waiting for...although I still have some meat on my bones...was definitely worth it. Remember when I got the loom for my birthday, and we had to wait "for the snow to melt" to move it around the outside of the house and downstairs? Well, the snow…

Prayers for DH

Good morning.....My DH, Mike is having surgery this morning to remove his gall bladder. We have heard from many that it's such an easy surgery/easy recovery, but it's still surgery. We've had a bit of a roller coaster ride with this issue. Mike travels frequently for his job and a couple of weeks ago, he was in Ontario, Canada. He was flying home and had a 2 hr layover in Denver. He was texting me while there and was anxious to get home. About an hr after that, I got a text stating he missed… Continue

To Be Quilted

Help!  I think I need a formula to expand the amount of time I have for quilting.  That or I need to clone myself.

I just finished another top and when I went to add it to my "To Be Quilted" list, I noticed that there are 39 projects listed before it!

Does anyone else have this problem?
