Happy Birthday!!

For all who are having a birthday this week, I want to wish you each and everyone a very blessed day. I will be at the hospital with my DH for some tests and will not be able to post daily birthday greetings. I hate missing out on learning more about each one that has a birthday but there is no help for this.

Happy Birthday to you and I hope that you enjoy your special day.!!!!!!!

Weekend project

My daughter has wanted to make this carry-all/diaperbag for a while so we decided to work on it while they were here for Thanksgiving. We didn't get started until Saturday. It took most of the day but we finished it!

RAG QUILT DILEMMA

Okay, so now I am in a rush to get a rag quilt done for my mother-in-law who is in a care facility since September. I have only made two before with the input of a friend. I have been reading on the internet that you can use flannel for the batting, making it unecessary to stitch through the blocks. Has anyone any pointers with this?

New to me quilt/embroidery technique

Well, I am learning everyday I open my sewing shop. First of all I thought I would never get into quilting and have done very little. I have a Brother PR 600II six thread embroidery machine and always looking for things to do on it. I get a lot of oops, so when something goes beautiful the first time I want to tell someone. Last night I download a quilt embroidery design from Embroiderylibrary.com of a snowman. I am making a table runner and placemats out of preprinted snowman Christmas…

One down and one to go

This has been a six month project and glad to see it done! The cross stitch will never happen again...too hard on my hands. My wish would be to see this quilt in shreds by next Christmas from using it so much...but DIL will probably not let him use it. Can only hope. Have dinosaur jammies to go with it. Will start big brothers next!…

A Busy Holiday!

So, I am wondering how many of you have out shopped me yet? I am not spending loads of money, but having the best time finding all the bargains and the perfect presents. Mark and I started on Black Friday at 3 am. We had a moment there about 2:30 am when we almost reconsidered, but after a few reminders of the one-time only sales and we were up and running while at the same time trying not to wake Mr. Man Cave from his slumber.

Three hours later, we were back. Not many packages, but… Continue

Hi Friends!

Hello all! Havn't posted for a while but I do enjoy keeping up with all the rest of you quilting friends thru your blogs! This week we are having our Quilt Guilde Christmas Party. We have a yummy potluck and this year we are forgoing the usual gift exchange and will donate to the local Veterans fund instead. We decided none of us needed another exchange gift! Also, the 1st part of our 3 month block exchange is due. There are 21 participants so that is a lot of blocks to be made. Luckly, I…

Lost Cause

Ok I am trying to get some projects finished up. About five projects that need the binding finished up, but I seem to have a problem...a big problem....a 65 pound black problem! Matilda is just having none of it, she wants all my attention so I give up and will try another time.…

An Inquiring mind wants to know

Yes I would like to know, what sewing machine do you use? What likes and dislikes. I can't afford a new machine yet, I wish I could but the bills dictate other wise, that and the dentist office. I guess no ones told them we are in a reccession. I have a Pfaff 2042 made for quilting but here lately it just isn't getting the job done. Seems that I spend a lot of time ripping seams to realine my edges in this quilt I'm working on and it's getting very frustrating. The sales lady said that it…

Thanksgiving Holiday

I greatly enjoyed the holidays. We had 23 for Thanksgiving with 10 desserts. My nieces brought their grat creations along with pies made by me, my sisters, and brothers. It takes two days to prepare the meal and get the house ready. However, it is worth it. I always enjoy having family in my home. I will attempt to add some pictures to share the festivities with you. Below are pictures of the dessert buffet. Believe it or not, most of the pies and cupcakes were gone by the end of the… Continue

Black Friday and Cyber Monday

I didn't even realize there was a Cyber Monday, until I started getting all sorts of e-mails...LOL. the first ones - I thought were viruses. :-)

When my students asked this morning if I had participated in Black Friday, I told them "No, I don't do that. Actually, I make most of my gifts." It was nice that they didn't say I was cheap - they thought it was very thoughtful. And I didn't correct their idea, but the truth is that the money just isn't there to be spent this year.…

Thanksgiving and other joys

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving--both the boys (men) came and the married one's a dad to be. I worked with my daughter-in-law on the baby quilt pattern she wants. I'm going to cut apart a printed panel and then sew it back together with extra triangles. You'll get to see it when I get it together. I hope our plan works.

Also ate, and ate, and ate--yummy but I really don't need those extra pounds.

The weather here has been awful--snow, ice, flights cancelled,…

Bailey's 1st Thanksgiving

Click to play this Smilebox collage
Several have asked, so here are some pictures of Bailey. She's such a doll. Our dog, Freckles, really did great with her tugging his ears, etc. Mom Jenna is doing fairly well. She still has a long way to go, health wise, but she can pretty well care for Bailey during the day. She is on disability and we…
