I'll be giving my grandchildren big squeezes and Grandma kisses tomorrow night. Yippee! After having to cancel our plans to attend the christening/Thanksgiving extravaganza we are doubly thankful we will be seeing the crew tomorrow and on to Sunday. My DIL has a huge family but they did their party thing a few weeks ago. It will be me and DH, older son, and the younger son, his wife, and their two precious kids.
I hope you all have joyous holidays and laugh too much, hug too much and…Continue
Here's wishing you all peace on Earth.
Vintage Stitchers met on Thursday for the annual holiday potluck at Rebecca's. Barbara commented that we've been meeting now for ten years. A few members have stopped coming or moved away, but most of us still meet twice a month.
As usual, we had lots of show-and-tell. One was…
It was the 34th year of the Quilt=Art=Quilt Show in Auburn, NY. The workmanship was unreal. Abstract isn't my favorite, but the skill and creativity was gorgeous! The first quilt was titled Behold the Future...it looked like an oil painting it was so well done! …Continue
Irene asked me to post this as she downloaded a program and got a virus and she hasn't been on the computer for weeks and wants everyone to know that she isn't having any health issues, but wanted me to let all of her friends know, she is ok, but her computer is sick. Merry Christmas to all.
I have ordered presents for the whole crew to be shipped directly to son's home. I'll wrap there. So, that's mostly done.
I have started the holiday weight gain--quite successful so far--I think it's seven pounds now. By the time we get home, I expect 12 that I can work on in January. I used to try to behave over the holidays but always gained weight anyway so now I'm just rolling with it. (Literally)
Other projects are not quite as successful. I am trying to redo my website.…Continue
Okay - so making a pin cushion out of a cup is not a new idea. The reason for this one is, well - I found a cute (and free!) grey cup and saucer in the photo department's prop give-away. Since my quilt studio is done in yellow and grey, it was logical that, all of a sudden, I needed a new pin cushion! For more detailed information about the supplies used and how to make the pin…Continue
I took this photo on my way into town about 2 weeks ago when we’d had just a dusting of snow down at the lower levels, but the mountains that surround our valley were ‘marshmallow white”. Taken from the pullout area that looks towards our airport and looking towards what are commonly called “The Kalum Mountains” it can give everyone an idea what this…Continue
I enjoy making Yo-Yos, so I thought I would "whip up" some Yo-Yo ornaments I saw in a recent issue of Quilter's World called Quilting for the Holidays. I decided to make two of each while I was at it so I could share some as gifts. For detailed information about cutting and making Yo-Yos of different sizes with and without …Continue
I am having so much fun making these quick little quilts. This one is called "Smiley" and is a design by Lynn Doyle of Bloominminds. It is 16" x 19" and was a great way to try out the buttonhole stitch on my new Pfaff.
This afternoon I made this iPad bag for my sister -- the last gift on my list. It sure goes together fast! It's one of Debbie Snyder's patterns - the Kerrie Bag. Now for a bit of gift wrap and the task is done.
On to making truffles and other…Continue

I love to read just as much as I love to quilt and knit. Amanda Best mentioned books by Fannie Flagg recently so I checked them out of my local library as it has been a long time since I read any of her books. I just have to say that everyone needs to read these two books! One is called "Can't Wait to Get to Heaven" and it was published in 2006. The other is "The All Girl's Filling Station's Last Reunion" and it was published this year. I found myself reading passages out loud to my…Continue
The local casino always puts up a beautiful Christmas display. This year it was a 6-7 ft. high village. You could smell the candy throughout the main floor! It was very impressive...sor t of made your teeth hurt!!!…Continue
Pam's jewelry tree prompted me to share this fun story with you.
A few months ago, Mom gave me a box of my paternal grandmother's costume jewelry. She was going to junk it, because she didn't want it and didn't think anyone else would, either. (Grma had a TON of costume jewelry and these were the last few pieces that came Dad's way for some reason).
I thought it would be fun to put them in the Christmas grab bag for the…Continue
Thought I'd share a gift we received from a very talented friend. She uses old brooches, earrings, jewelry to paint with!!! The photo doesn't do it justice! So ladies start collecting when you see a piece in a garage sale for 25 cents.
We are digging out of 26 in. in the past 24 hrs. Our DPW are great at clearing the roads! Thanks…Continue
I have spent this year being both the president and the program chairman for my small local quilt guild. The program chairman is really a 2 year position & I was half way through when I was asked to run for president. I figured what the heck - I might just as well get all of my volunteering over with at the same time. I know - good luck with that idea! LOL Anyway, one of the duties of the VP is making sure a quilt top is made for the outgoing president, which is given to her at the…Continue
Looking forward to making new friends here! Please take a minute and say hello!
Hi All! I am finally caught up with customer Christmas quilts, and even managed to fit in a couple "rush" orders. Yesterday I received a very encouraging email. The owner of a quilt shop I have been going to for years, and have had my business cards in, emailed me yesterday and asked if I would be interested in quilting their BOM quilt's. It comes with me being the first LAQ they suggest when customers are searching for one, and a shop discount! I'm very excited and flattered that she…Continue
First 2 photos are wall hangings I made for our church. Purchased panels from Keepsake Quilting and added batiks from my stash. Each…Continue
