Hi everyone! I just wanted to let everyone know I've updated the first paragraph of the Terms of Service. This states more clearly about our advertising rules. Please read this when you have a moment. Thanks!

Wow, this morning we watched our member count grow to over 29,000 people! Thanks for joining our wonderful quilting community everyone.
Q- What are you thoughts on how many members we will have by this time next year?

Curious...the CT catalog has three or sometimes four colored dots following the description of an item. Usually that item is a kit of some kind. I've wondered...are those matching thread colors? Or something else.

If by chance, you live in the Pacific Northwest, I'd like to invite you to the Basin Piecemakers Quilt Show
, in Moses Lake, WA. It's at the ML High School commons on Friday, 10:00-6:00 and Saturday, 10:00-4:00. Off hand I don't know the exact address but the school is on Sharon St. You could probably Mapquest it. It's really easy to find as it's just off the I-90 freeway. If you can make it come by my booth and say HI. It really is a great show for such a small town. Also… Continue

Last Christmas DH and Connecting Threads did a great job filling my stocking with all kinds of treats, and I wanted to comment on one I've fallen in love with. I am new to applique and had read about how silk thread can help make one' stitches almost invisible. I've been appliqueing using the YLI Neutral gift set from CT and it's amazing---the thread is strong, yet finer than a hair, and I'm feeling like an expert with my tiny, really-and-truly-almost-invisible stitches. How does it compare… Continue

It has arrived!!! My order placed last Thursday is here already and I must say it is gorgeous!!! Of course , despite all promises of finishing what has been started, I'm itching to jump right in and start cutting!!! I will blame this dilemma on C.T., if they weren't so efficient I would have accomplished something before it came. Oh well, now I can say I won't buy anything else until I finish my UFO's, including this one. This coming up with excuses is getting to be a full time job!!!

There has been some talk recently about what kinds of photos should be posted on QWU. Back in May, 2009, Karen posted as moderator that non-quilt photos and posts are officially fine (read that post here). That policy still stands. However, since that time, membership has grown to well over 20,000, and the photos on the site number over 38,000.
When uploading photos to the site,… Continue

Many of you have noticed the increase of spam in the past week, and some particularly unsavory stuff this weekend. I'm so sorry! I've increased the new member security level yet again, but unfortunately that means brand new people have to jump through even more security hoops to join. I've found this past week's spammers were particularly aggressive and not computer generated (or they wouldn't be able to get past our security points). Continue

Well, here's our next FREE
project! This little pincushion was so fun to make a great "welcoming"
gift to any new quilter! Mary Jo is a pineapple collector so she made
one and I made one. It came together very quickly! Enjoy!

OK, I totally spaced the need to blog about the Pineapple Pin Cushion that Mari designed for me! I just love anything pineapple, and have many in a fun collection. The day Mari was making decisions on the pin cushions she was going to include in the Gifty Galore selection, I told her they were all great, but she needed to come up with a pineapple. By the end of the day, there was indeed a pineapple in the group! Then I got to test the pattern and have one for my very own. It goes together like… Continue
