Yes, I am still alive. Just wanted to let all those older members who remember my college craziness know that I am finished. I had to postpone graduation until this fall instead of the summer but I just got the email confirming my final portfolio project passed. So, I guess I have officially earned my Masters Degree in Library Science. I still need to have that final transcript saying it and take a state based exam to get it added to my Texas teaching certificate, which I will do in the…Continue
Technically, I have taken all the classes I need to for my masters degree. Unfortunately, there was no graduating for me this summer as I had planned due to mental exhaustion and an ailing 85 year old mom. I really admire and feel for all you ladies that have committed to taking care of a parent full time.
Back to school. I postponed my graduation until this fall because the summer load proved to be literally a LOAD. I am required to put together a virtual portfolio as the final…Continue
Hoping to get some help from someone proficient with changing a picture into an embroidery design using Husqvarna 4D software on my SE machine.
I haven't played with it in so long I don't know what I am missing. I follow the book directions but when I change the picture to embroidery the stitching is not complete in places.
This doesn't give you much information but I am hoping for at least one person out there who can guide me a little through this. Didn't want to bore…Continue
Now here's a story. Last Sunday I was out in the new house cleaning up for the floor to start Monday. This pair of wrens would not stay out of the house and I had to constantly shoo them out a door. Eventually I discovered they were…Continue
The stove and refrigerator were delivered and installed today. Everything is coming together and should be one more week before the house is finished. The electrician is the one holding things up but they have a very big job. The tile man will finish today and the plumber has a little more to do. I think they broke one of my shower controls so they have to get another…Continue
Gayle sent me a message saying she had to take DH back to the hospital because he had a very tiny almost undetectable stroke that is common with the valve procedure. With other health issues (pacemaker etc) it is hard to do some types of tests. She is waiting to hear from doctors. Keep them in your prayers, please.
I just heard good news from Gayle that her DH came through his heart valve surgery and is doing well. Now is time for all those thank you prayers. She sounded good and said the doctors said everything went great and he should be up by tomorrow. I met Gayle and her DH when I still lived in Lafayette and they are truly kind people. I was even his game "friend" on facebook in those days before house and school when I had spare time to just sit on the computer. I am grateful he is doing…Continue
Go down a few entries to the picture of my house. I need some input...which I know you all love to give! There will be a wood railing along the front porch and a glass door stained dark. Other than landscaping, of course, the house needs something. Shutters maybe? I wanted real shutters that could close during hurricanes but there is not enough room. Would shutters on the outer windows upstairs in a dark brown balance it? Tell me what you think, please.
The rock was finished on the house yesterday. The front porch will have a railing also and it will look different when the real front door gets installed. DH got the builder to say 60 more days the other day but I bet it will be sooner.
I am going to try to do the Special K challenge for the next two weeks. We will see how that goes. Had a bowl of cereal, so far so good. I wonder if coffee will ruin it? Oh well, I am headed to get a cup anyway.
Have a great day…Continue
I was pleased to find out today that I can still sew a pretty good 1/4 inch seam after not really being at my sewing machine for months other than those chair covers that I never want to see again. I finally started the signature stars some of us are doing for a swap group on QWU.Continue
I am hoping everyone has had a good start to 2011. We spent the holidays at our farm and was without internet for a couple of weeks so I have been catching up with posts here on QWU.
The house is coming along. The cabinets are being built and it is wonderful to be able to talk to him everyday and have him customize them the exact way I need. DH and I stood out there for over an hour discussing where we will put everything, glasses, dishes, etc. so we can tell the cabinet maker how…Continue
This is the type of chain letter I have no problem answering. My aunt sent it to me and other than y'all I really have no one else to send it to. If you are interested you can email your name and address to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
It is asking that you add your name, send out four copies to quilting friends, and send two 6"x6" purple squares to the top person on the list. So that means two purple fabrics and four stamps. They do ask that you send…Continue
I can finally come up for air. I have three more assignments due by Saturday for school and then this semester will be over. I will be doing an internship in the spring along with one of the most difficult classes for the program. At least, that is what I am told. Don't know what to expect but will know soon enough, I guess.
The house is coming along. They are now working on cabinets and moldings...all the woodwork.
This doesn't do the size of the room justice. This…Continue
Just a quick update for those that follow my soap opera...
The house is really moving along. They are starting all the custom cabinetry tomorrow. I spent about four hours with the cabinet builder today going into each room and didn't even touch on everything because I had an appointment to look at faucets for kitchen and baths at 1:30...and inbetween I picked garage doors...and talked with the builder about little things. It is becoming that time that decisions have to be made quickly…Continue
