This is from a kit I purchased a few years ago. Need to find backing and then it is ready to quilt. I am really pleased. Did the applique by hand - buttonhole stitch.

Christmas Eve and Santa

Merry Christmas to all !!

Those of you with small kiddies,  either with you on Christmas Eve or at their own home,  there is a web site that tracks Santa's journey . The Charlie Flight 21 Aerospace Control and Warning Squadron based in North Bay,Ontario, Canada --  It used to be easier when they were just NORAD - North America Air Defense and were connected to Colorado and their Air Defense people  - tracks Santa Christmas Eve and scramble fighters to make sure it is him and that he…

Sunbonnet Sue

I just posted pics of the 5 applique blocks for granddaughter's quilt. The seasonal blocks will be on point on the four corners of the centre Sue block. I was really pleased when the mitred corners on the centre applique came out perfectly the first time. After all the problems with the Y seams in the pieced blocks it really was great that the mitres were so easy. So tomorrow, it is start sewing the blocks together.

A real quandary ...

What do you do with 1and 1/4 cups of white sugar and 1 and 1/4 cups of brown sugar mixed ?????

Perhaps I should start at the beginning. Over March Break to those in Ontario,  Canada  -- Spring Break for those who live in the U.S., we had our 9 year old granddaughter here for the week. It was a busy week to say the least. The day before she went home was our "Nana and Kat  Day ". So we started out to make chocolate chip cookies from my mother's recipe. Kat was reading the recipe and…

Not quilt related

While this is not about quilting, it is what I watched  off and on all afternoon when I wasn't at the sewing machine.

He showed up late yesterday afternoon and was still here this morning. He spent most of the afternoon sitting on  the hummingbird sign. At one point he swooped down and sat in the snow. After a few minutes he got himself a mouse. Hubby was pleased. He…

Y seams

Before Christmas I started a quilt for GD . Didn't realize it had Y seams. I fought with it for a while and then put it away  as a lost cause for a while. I got it out Monday and started again but going very slowly and measuring and checking several times. By Tuesday I had one block finished with as perfect as I can get them Y seams. The quilt will have 7 pink blocks and 7…

Wishing all a Merry , Merry Christmas  and a heathly and prosperous New Year.

Today was quiet here just hubby and I. Son was at his fiancee's house. Tomorrow hubby will drive a 10 hour round-trip to get our granddaughter who is 9. We will have Christmas Eve on Tues. and Christmas day on Wed.

Two years ago when GD was coming after the 25th for Christmas at our house she was very worried about whether there would be presents from Santa at our house. Off the cuff on the…

Merry Christmas to all !!+

I haven't posted for a long time. I have been reading and keeping up with everyone. This has been a tough year for me. My Mum went into hospital in January and passed away the end of March. She was 98. My granddaughter said they were the same age but Nana Maisie had a 9 in front of her 8 (GD was 8 ).lol

I am executor so have all the paper work to do that is entailed as well as having all her "stuff" to sort through and deal with. We had a  lot of visitors starting the end of June when…

Mum's quilt

Here is the disappearing 9 patch finally -but not quilted yet. I was unsewing more than sewing so have put it aside till after Christmas. Unless something miraculous happens she will get it pins and all on Christmas Day.

We are getting this storm even in Northern Ontario. We have gotten 6 inches or so but the wind was really howling earlier. At times we couldn't even see the lake from the house - only about half way there. School buses were cancelled this morning and our roads weren't… Continue

Hummingbird and Mum's quilt

Hi everyone - this is my first blog ever lol. I just posted 2 pictures of a hummingbird hubby held till it was able to fly away on its own after hitting a window. I also posted the steps in the piecing of the quilt top for my Mum for Christmas. She will be 98 in November. Will add photos when I get the borders on but that wont happen for a while because we are going to visit with our son north of Chicago. Have our brand new sparkling passports so your guys will let us in. We leave Monday .
