Thanks to finding a LAQ, I finished a quilt that had been on a shelf waiting to be quilted for 3 years, plus 2 others that I made in the past year. I love all 3 of them! Two are made entirely with CT fabric lines, and the scrap quilt has a good majority of CT fabric as well. I posted about them all in my blog. Here's a peek at 2 of them. I now have NO unfinished quilt tops! I don't even have a new one started! Gasp! No… Continue

I added the borders today (first time making mitered borders), and I'm really happy with the finished product. I didn't get a very clear photo of the top, but I was in a hurry to sew the backing. I will get a better picture when I take it out to get it ready to go to the LAQ!…

I took a couple months off of sewing as we prepared for a big camping trip to Yosemite. We got home last week and I finally pulled my machine out again. I got all 20 blocks sewn and pressed, so next will be final assembly of the quilt top! Here's a preview of 4 of the blocks:… Continue

I sewed all the long strip sets together and cut all those into block strips. Now, it's time to do a LOT of chain sewing!…

A few weeks back I asked for help on here regarding a quilt pattern, which was identified as Weaver Fever. I ordered the Weaver Fever DVD/pattern (totally worth it for all the helpful hints) and Golden Age fabric because I just had to make a quilt out of that fabric line. I got my fabric today, pressed it, and cut all the strips, borders, and binding. I'm posting a photo of the layout for sewing the strip sets together below. I can hardly wait to start sewing!…

I came across a picture of a quilt that I need to identify the pattern for...if anyone could name it for me, I would be so grateful! I want to make this quilt using some of the new CT fabrics.
Name this quilt pattern!

Thank you to everybody who sent me birthday wishes! It started out with me not being able to sleep in like I wanted to. Finally, it was Saturday and we didn't have to get up and get our son off to school. But, NO, I was wide awake at 5:30. We usually don't get up until 6:30 so I'm not sure what caused that. I went and got my free drink at Starbucks and did spend some time quilting. I am finishing up the second crib-sized quilt to send to Haiti and it is almost complete. Once the Haiti quilts… Continue

What are the general measurements for a twin size quilt? We have a standard twin with box spring on a standard frame. I would be interested in hearing measurements for total coverage (to the floor) and also to be used with a dust ruffle showing. I'm trying to use up some scraps and want to make sure I have enough before I start cutting!

I want to make some handbags/totes, and I'm also about to finish off a quilted flag to hang in our foyer. It is a 2-sided flag (one side Halloween fabric, the other is a fall/harvest leaf fabric). So, I can't just put on a hanging sleeve. I would like to have some fabric strips - about 4 or 5 of them - coming out from the top as loops. So, I guess they would just be like really short pieces of tote bag straps. Anyhow, my question is about interfacing! I have never used it, have no idea what it… Continue

I'm about to put outer borders on my blue and white 9-patch quilt. I only really have enough of 1 fabric to do the outer borders, and may use it as binding as well. I posted a picture on my page if anyone wants to give their thoughts on it.
I really do not want to order more fabric (well, I do want to, but you know, budget restrictions!) - I think I have been looking at the quilt top too long and need some "fresh eyes"! Thanks!

Has anyone here tried the binding tools called "Zip Bind" and/or "Stitch-N-Ditch Binding Foot" by Martelli? I really want to do bindings by machine without the hand stitching to the back. I have been practicing on a scrap quilt and have figured out something that works, but I'm wondering if any of these would help me to be more accurate with catching the binding completely. I tried stitching the binding to the back and then turning it over to stitch along the edge of the binding on the front,… Continue

I just finished my Indigos Around quilt top and it is even more beautiful than in the catalog! I made it a bit bigger than the original pattern (picture on my page). This is the first quilt I'm making specifically for me. All the other quilts I've made have been gifts or wall hangings or just to have around as a throw. It will be a while before it gets quilted as I really need to make 3 more quilt tops for Christmas. By the time I finish those tops, hopefully my DH will have built my table for… Continue

I just finished the fish quilt and now just pray it comes out of the wash okay! This is a quilt of many firsts: First quilt done on my new Juki machine and new HQII frame, first quilt I made with scrappy binding and patchwork on the back, first use of variegated thread, and first time I've made a quilt without prewashing the fabric! I did the very simplest wavy line quilting pattern which allowed me to quilt… Continue

Happy Friday! I just received my CT order yesterday (and my new Juki machine - what a great day!) and I ordered the Indigos Around kit. One of the cutting instructions says "fussy cut" and I haven't a clue what that means! Can someone shed some light on this for me? I understand "scant 1/4 inch" but have never heard about a fussy cut. I'm already fussy enough - LOL! Thanks, Kristine

I need to make a couple of lap quilts that are blue and white. I have some of the Irresisitible Indigo 3 blue fabrics and am going to get some white fabric. Any ideas? I'm thinking a tiny bit of red would be okay for these quilts, as the backing fabric is patriotic! Thanks, Kristine

I actually got to spend hours on a quilt top today! I brought my machine into the living room and hung out with my husband and son while I finished this quilt top, which is a surprise for a close friend. Tomorrow, hopefully, I will get to work on the backing and sew the binding strips together. I need to get some variegated thread for quilting it. I hope that this will be the first quilt that gets quilted on my new HandiQuilter II… Continue
