I love to take my iron to classes and retreats but don’t like to mess with trying to figure out how to get a hot iron home. I have seen the Caddy Pad pattern made in many different fabrics and it always looks so cute. To see the rest of the post click here.…

I made the Travel Tissue Case. It is a free download pattern so you don't have to buy a pattern to make it. It is a great gift and doesn't use much fabric.
This is my first one that I made but I plan on making more. I love that it has the zippered section so you can put your lipstick, credit card and money in it, or any other little…

Square hot pads ALWAYS have the little loop in the corner for hanging them. I never put the loop on mine when I make them and never hang them. I have asked all of my coworkers and very few people hang decorative ones but not the ones they use. Do you hang your pot holders? When you make pot holders do you add the loop? Just curious.

If I can't have the sunshine outside... I decided to bring it inside so I made this fun quilt. It makes me feel so happy when I look at the bright colors!

I just noticed how long it has been since I posted. I have been very deep in my after Christmas do nothing slump. This seems to happen to me every year. Well, it's over. I have dusted off my sewing machine, changed my rotary blade, updated my UFO and USO lists and I am ready to start sewing!!! I read back a ways on the blog posts and can't believe how busy you all have been. Some of you never rest!

As soon as the gray days of winter set in I start craving color and thinking about summer, it seems like it stays dreary longer every year. I made these place mats from the book Turning Strips and Squares into Table Sets
. They were so quick, easy AND quilt as you go. You could whip them out in an afternoon. I can imagine making… Continue

I love the Golden Afternoon

I pulled out an old UFO and started working on it Friday at my quilt guild meeting and I continued working on it all weekend. It is an English Paper Pieced table topper. I haven't looked at it for a long time and have been working on piecing all of the hexagons together. I made a lot of progress. Of course I thought I knew what I was doing so I didn't look at the layout on the pattern. Yesterday I layed it out to look at it and discovered I pieced it together wrong!!! I can't believe it... I… Continue

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I spent the day traveling from South Carolina back to Washington. So I was pleasantly surprised when I signed in and saw all of the the Happy Birthdays! Since I didn't do any celebrating on my actual birthday I am dragging it out at work like I always do.

I started this table runner a few years ago. It is the first of two projects that I chose to finish for my February UFO Challenge. Hooray! It is done. One more project to go. I am also trying to overcome my fear of machine quilting so I quilted it myself. (With a lot of helpful advise from my friends.)
So far I can only quilt with my Walking Foot. I refer to… Continue

I'm off work and heading to California for 4 days. I am hoping for some warmer weather, good visits with my friends and family, maybe Disneyland, and Road to California! Geez, I hope I can fit it all in. I'll do my best!!

I finished my first UFO for 2010. It was English Paper piecing and I am soooo sloooow at it. I didn't think it would ever get finished and it is small! Most of it was a lot fun to make, I liked having a variety of shapes to work on. On to my next project!… Continue

The shopping is done and I am going to enjoy the week and the Christmas now. I didn't make any gifts this year. Maybe next year. I am going to get my best Christmas gift in a few hours. My son is in the Navy attending school right now and gets to come home on leave. I NEVER realized I would miss him so much. I am so excited! He is the best gift I could get!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it is all about family rather than gifts. When I was a child we weren't allowed to speak about Christmas until after Thanksgiving was over. Every time we did my mother would tell us to "hush". My mother passed away many years ago but I still obey her rule. Well, Thanksgiving is over now! I have already watched 3 Christmas movies and am ready to sing Christmas songs, shop, eat Christmas goodies and enjoy the season!!!
