Looking at the last time I posted I was shocked to see it’s been almost 2 years! I do pop in from time to time to see what everyone has been working on!
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and finding time to do some quilting!
One of my latest quilts I quilted for a customer a few months ago! …Continue
This time of year is always super busy for me. This week I got to work on an absolutely stunning hand appliqued Nutcracker quilt. She not only hand appliqued it, it has so many tiny embellishments on each block. Buttons, beads, and glittery threads. She made it for her daughter and grandson and the whole time I was working on it I just kept thinking how lucky her daughter and grandson are. This quilt is hands down the most beautiful quilt I've had the pleasure of quilting! I am going to try…Continue
The couple who got married this summer that I made a quilt for are expecting. I found this panel and just had to buy it! It's an easy fix to my lack of time to make them something before the little one arrives. Of course it isn't square, I don't think I've ever purchased a panel that is, so I tried to square it on the frame but I wasn't completely successful so I will have to cut down the border which is why there isn't anything fancy quilted in the border. *sigh* I am pleased with how it…Continue
Fall is coming fast! I just mowed yesterday and what leaves there were got chopped up in the mower but when I went outside this morning, more leaves!! Thankfully DH does the leaf collecting duty so sooner rather than later I will be turning the lawn work over to him.
This past week I got some time to make a small table runner for my sister in law who equally loves Halloween as much as I do. She is not into sewing so she asked if she bought the fabric would I make it? No need to ask…Continue
Hi all! I hope everyone is enjoying what's left of summer. Soon the leaves will start turning and we will be able to enjoy all the colors and cooler weather!
I was inspired by Irene and cleaned my sewing room a month or so ago and since then I cannot stay out of there! It's so clean and I know exactly where everything is and surprisingly enough I have kept it that way. When I finish a project I clean and put away before starting the next. I literally feel like I have a whole new…Continue
Hi everyone! It's been while since I've posted. Life always seems to throw something at me.
I've been busy quilting for customers and when I'm not doing that we have been working in the yard. The weather has been so crazy, it was cool for so long and then summer can in at full force and it's HOT!
DH and I are going to a wedding this afternoon, one of the guys he works with. I have known about this wedding since December, and had plenty of time to prepare but for some reason I…Continue
I hope everyone had a great Christmas! I keep checking to see if anyone received any new quilty things but I'm sure everyone is busy with family and friends. We had a beautiful Christmas at my moms. I ate way to much, brought home way to many leftovers, and bags and bags of her homemade cookies. Even with all this rain we are getting, I have no worries, I'm so bloated I will most certainly float!
I hope this finds everyone happy and well!
I am not even close to getting all my Christmas shopping done! I did get all my customer quilts finished so that's a plus. Thank you Mari for the free pattern!! Such a quick easy project and SEW CUTE!! Here is one of the many I am doing (doubled up as you can see in the picture). I made this lil guy a vest, doesn't he look handsome!? I hope everyone is getting all those last min. project finished up! Have a great weekend!!…Continue
This is my busy time of year. Last minute quilts for customers that need them back as soon as I pull them off the frame to get binding on. I do get stressed trying to work everyone in, but I really do love seeing and quilting all the beautiful quilts. Plus I get joy knowing someone is getting a quilt for Christmas, made with love. I also hope it will inspire whoever receives it to carry on the tradition of quilting. I can't imagine a world without quilts and hope I never have to!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you are safe if you are on the road today, and I hope you get to spend this day with everyone you love!!
I will be working today as my family and I had our Thanksgiving feast last weekend. Working on a fall topper for a customer who used CT's Kaleidoscope line. She wanted it to be a fall theme so I went with oak leaves.
Eat lots, hug more, and laugh until your face hurts!!…Continue
For a while now I have been wanting to make a whole cloth....something. I knew I didn't have the time nor do I have the talent yet to make a quilt so I'm starting small. After the border I just finished I was inspired to make this little beauty to go on my coffee table. I did start out thinking I would make placemats but I made one and got discouraged beause I didn't like it. So today was a better day. I will spend the rest of the afternoon making coasters with feathers to match, which…Continue
Working on this beauty today for a customer. The center was easy since she only wanted a pantograph, but she asked if I could do something different in the border and sashing. The feathers look harder then the orange peel part but I have WAY more time in the orange peel. The biggest challenge is keeping the lines straight. As we all know a PERFECT quilt is nearly impossible. Even if pieced perfectly, when it's on the frame it stretches some here and there. I sent her a picture of the…Continue
This time of year always gets a little busy for me. I have a nice break at the end of summer up until now. Everyone gets busy working on Christmas gifts which keeps me and "Trixie" buzzin until Christmas and will continue until it gets nice enough for the ladies to get outside. Which is fine by me because when the snow is falling and the wind is blowing there is nothing I'd rather be doing then quilting all the beautiful quilts my customers bring me.
So with my break I did manage…Continue
Lately I have been feeling like the walls are closing in on me. Every time I go to get in a closet or drawer to look for something, I have to sift through "stuff" I either haven't used in who knows how long, stuff I have forgotten about, or stuff I don't have a clue why I have. So enough was enough! Phase one was the living room, top to bottom, and the entry closet. (It had turned into extra storage for the shoes that didnt fit in my closet. Thankfully my sister is having a garage sale soon…Continue
I hardly ever take the time to custom quilt my own stuff, but business slows down in the summer which is ok and gives me some time to work on my own projects, as well as keep up with yard work. I have been busy trying to finish up the UFO's that are cluttering up my closet and this is one I finished and had enough backing to actually be able to quilt it too!! I'm happy with how it turned out. My greatest compliment was when DH was looking at it and pointed to the feather border and said,…Continue
I have been working on this quilt for a customer....
Per her request she wanted the pearls. I'm sick of pearls! lol I've looked at it for so long I can't even see the illusion it's supposed to give off anymore! But it's done and it gets…Continue
We finally had a break from the cold rainy weather that just wouldn't let go, so of course I had to visit a couple greenhouses. And of course you can't just visit a greenhouse, kind of like you can't just visit a quilt shop, you HAVE to buy something! Or maybe that's just me? lol Well, I had no intention of getting all my flowers but I just couldn't resist! So I spent the weekend cleaning my flower beds and planting my new flowers. Mother's day is usually my weekend to do all of that but now…Continue
OOOO I wish I could txt, email, tweet, snap, pin, post something to ol' Mother Nature. She's made me lose my sew-jo, and at moments I don't even want to hang around with myself for fear I will cuss myself out.
Luckily in a few weeks I will be at the International Quilt Festival in Chicago. Hundreds of beautiful quilts in the show and tons of vendors!!! I'm…Continue
Well, after the last "snow storm warning" that predicted we would get 6-12" and we only got not even 2", I figured this would be the same, but I was wrong. It snowed and it snowed and it snowed, and we ended up with close to 13". Luckily we didn't have to go anywhere and DH took the day off yesterday. Only bad thing about him taking the day off is I never get any work done. Today I am back at it and working on a beautiful wall hanging for a customer in very pretty romantic pinks, mauves,…Continue
