I have been reading everyones blogs, but haven't commented too much. Last February 2012, my middle sister passed away, I wasn't ready to share until now, She had HER II breast cancer, she did fine with that for six years and than that darn cancer went to her colon, she was operated on for it, but it just spread so fast and passed away after a month, She lived in NJ, my other sister & me went up to see her for a week to help her out and I sewed her cushions for her kitchen set. After…Continue

I think that my New Year's resolution will be to use every tool & all the new templates I have, use all my stash up (that might take more than a year) finish all my UFO's, make new quilts for everyone in my family AGAIN and really learn how to use…Continue

Has anyone used flannel for raw edge applique? I am making a monkey quilt for my great nephew and trying to put the monkies on with machine applique, except I am finding that the edges ravel, am I doing the stitiches too small? should I make the stitches a little larger? I thought if I made the stitches smaller I would hold the ends without raveling.
What results did anyone get when they tried raw edge flannel appliques,…Continue
Hi everyone, I haven't been on in awhile, it has been a very busy summer, I live on the water, so we have lots of company. Last week had 2 of my six grands for the week, we went fishing, clamming, swimming on the beach, they love the ocean. We did find time to sew, I bought 2 preprinted pattern aprons from WalMart, just cut and sew. My GD is 11 and GS is 8, they did very well, but my GD is a lefty, WOW! it is so hard to teach a lefty to rotory cut. I had to buy her left handed…Continue
I am so upset, I was watching my grandsons for the weekend and the fourth, we live on the water and of course have a boat, so my DH and I were taking the boys to the beach, my DD had packed a beach bag for the boys and in the bag (lands end bag, huge) were 2 quilts I had made, one I had made last year for my grandson 4th BD, I almost had a fit seeing that quilt in the beach bag, I didn't take it to the beach, I washed it and folded it up and gave it back to my DD, I didn't tell her I was…Continue
Sitting at the computer when I should be making cookies for the library FIRECRACKER BOOK SALE for Monday, I can't do it tomorrow cause my 2 grandsons are coming. Grandma is baby sitting, My DD is getting a divorce and it has been tough for the boys and for her also, she had a job as a restaraunt manager, she has a degree in that and also she is a chef (loves that but late hours with kids). When I get started on the above I could go on forever, but I will stop now.
I am working a…Continue

First HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL!
I am sure someone has used wool batting, just wondering how you liked it. I want to try it. Do you think it would be too warm for a lap quilt size for a baby? How does it wash? quilt? and anything else you can think of that I should know before I try it.
Thanks for any help.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions on the Kindle Cover. Quilter's are the greatest and most generous people.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

Hi fellow quilters,
This weekend we had a early Christmas with my daughter and family. I received a Kindle, yea! from my daughters. I was looking for a quilted pattern for my kindle, hey, why not? Has anyone made one, maybe some suggestions. I have something in mind, but don't want to do it more than 2 times, I had…Continue
I an answering the new guilter who blogged about holding the layers together, I bought this great tool, MICRO STITCH, by Avery Dennison. It can be purchased on Overstock.com for $19.99.
I introduced this at my guild meeting for "show and tell" My friend bought herself one and used it for the first time and she is thrilled with it. She couldn't thank me enough.
Thanks, everyone for the encouraging words, I hope I learn to use my machine and learn to love it. I guess it has to grow on a person, I came up stairs to my sewing room and looked at MY 830 and said " You are so scary!" I know I have to get over that.
My husband has two John Deere tractors with all the assessors, I guess men do not have the same feelings that women do about spending all that money. He also has two boats! So I guess I should not feel too bad about buying the 830. He…Continue
Thursday morning I picked up my new sewing machine, It takes me 2 hours to get to where I bought the machine, I had an hour lesson and I dropped off my old Bernina 930 circa 1985 to have that serviced, my quilting friend came with me, of course you can't bring anyone that is a non sewer, I would have been antsy trying to get out of the shop.
So I got my machine home and was too tired to play with it, all night I was…Continue
Can't wait to use it, I will probably need a lot of lessons…Continue
