You may recall the sample squares I won last month--I did a modified stitch and flip to make my "coins" go in squares instead of the Chinese Coin strippy that Teri had done. I also added redwork and an embroidered panel to complete my "big top" look!! Thanks KP for the great squares!!

It was a great two for one weekend!! A wonderful time with friends, eating too much, sewing a lot, and talking lots, too!! We ducked out for a 3 hour break to see the lovely Airing of the Quilts in Huntsville--a very short ride, beautiful day, and such a delightful assortment of quilts!! We went down to Rockport (Tx) yesterday to see a friend--bonus--the Whooping Cranes had left the Aransas Refuge seeking crabs in the marshy beaches of Rockport!!--we saw almost a dozen of these magnificent birds along with the usual Egrets, Gray Herons--and a flamingo colored bird --something hornbill. The wildflowers covered fields with purple, pink, white and yellow, the yucca had magnificant stalks of flowers. The sky was an intense blue after the morning fog and the water was a lovely… Continue

Yes, here in the land of palm trees and yards full of roses for Christmas--the grass is white and DS just brought in the first snowball I've seen since we moved here!! It's the perfect day to sit stiching by the open fire with a warm drink at hand!! A blizzard in Houston makes one quite giddy!!

We just had a fantastic retreat at Red Barn in Coldspring, Texas. Am thoroughly inspired by what we saw/did and the great show at Huntsville--the Airing of the Quilts was truely excellent. Yes, the retreat and the show are really close together and the timing is perfect. The weather also cooperated, in a rainy week those ladies are really gutsy for hanging an outside show--they were the delicious sandwich between t-storms!!
