I can hardly believe it's been2 years since I last blogged. I'll have to try harder. But you know how it is...life gets in the way. So this year I made Izzy's Choice. Designed by Jeana Kimball, this delightful quilt was just the ticket to get me through recovery from surgery. I had prepped the entire quilt, which is just the way I work, and got busy as soon as I was healthy enough. After all the applique was finished, I handquilted each block and border as separate units. Then I trimmed them and bound each piece individually. Then I whipstitched them together and appliqued on the deep purple hexagons. It was a great experience and I'm glad I tried it but think I'll go back to my normal quilting style.
I had previously sandwiched a number of quilt tops so they were ready for machine quilting when I felt up to it. By the time I finished Izzy's Choice, I was ready, so out came Home Sweet Home, a Blackbird Design. I had seen the original quilt many years ago at a quilt show and was totally enamoured by it. I love their designs! So I took a couple of weeks to machine quilt this one very similar to the way the original was quilted. I'm a happy gal.
Next up, Bachelor Buttons, another Blackbird Design. Again needleturn applique & machine quilted...I have to finish these tops!! In a perfect world I would not have had this huge stack of unfinished tops but my world is NOT perfect, so I'm having to machine quilt these so I can handquilt the ones that have taken more time. So more will follow, machine quilted for a while yet.
Happy Quilting until next time....Annette
