Quilt With Us

Just returned from UPS.

I sent 5 tops to the Long Arm Quilter! Doing the happy dance, they're no longer MY WIP's, MY UFO's......

Ginny will work her magic and all will be well.

Back to reality though. I finished piecing my latest Creation called "Spring is Coming" top, now to put it together, then I'm going to hand quilt this one. I'm making myself do this........ARGH.

I also have to put together "Mothers and Daughters" and quilt that top for my daughter........I intentionally didn't send this one, it cut it down by a row, to make it more of a lap quilt, which means I can machine quilt it.

Meaning all my tops are done (well kinda)
I have 5 charity quilts put together, they need to be quilted, so technically I'm 5 months ahead for the year (hehe) my goal being one charity quilt per month in 2009.

Mental List now put into writing:

I have the buggy barn crazies stuck in the drawer as I do not like that pattern at all!!!!!!!!! I've made 8 blocks, cut the material - so it's a UFO........maybe a PIG instead............What a waste of beautiful material.

When Pigs Fly is still running around in my head, I'm sitll looking for a pig applique pattern and wings that I really like............. All pigs will be polka dotted.............I have been collecting material.

I have a Jelly Roll in neutrals to do another stripped search.

I bought enough Red fat quarters today at Joanns to do another scrappy trip around the world, less scrappy more red.

GOSH I'm getting behind again........ OR she says slowly to herself - I'm just in the planning stage........

I vote for Planning Stage and not behind.........

Thanks for the info Gigi. Are you saying the shipping was $50 or the total cost of getting the quilting done? I want to start that as part of my business, just trying to get some ideas. Thanks much

I send my tops to Ginny Bissell at Sew Kountry Fabrics located in Clarksville, Arkansas. I live in Virginia. The long armers here are out of site on their prices! Ginny is reasonably priced and goes the extra mile to make sure I'm happy. She will send pictures, ask for your feedback and basically do whatever you the client wants done. Even with the shipping charges of almost $50 I will save a ton of money on 5 tops.

The reason I chose her originally was because my parents live in Dardanelle, AR. I had 2 tops I needed done and no one around here would call me back. SO I started looking and came up with her, we clicked and now it's history. I talked to her yesterday she gets quilt tops from Alaska and other places throughout the US!

Hi Gigi, I'm trying to find some prices for long arm quilting work. Any suggestions on where to look? I see you send yours out, but not trying to pry into what they charge you, just want to get some approximates and possibly a good site to compare some pricing. Any info is appreciated.
