Quilt With Us

A friend of mine is expecting a baby in the New Year.  They will be having a boy, so I decided on sea colors and a brick pattern.  It only measures 30X40" so I will add a 2" border all around.  The backing will be soft flannel and will be machine quilted.

When I look back on the year, I can't believe all we have accomplished and at the same time that it flew by so fast having a lot left unfinished.  One of my goals each year is to complete UFO's abandoned in my basket.  Even finishing one of these would be a great achievement.  This year, however, was not to be so.  I've had many starts and a couple quick finishes.  This is a top completed for my friend in July.  She didn't want to continue with it, so I took it off her hands, appliqued the squares, trimmed and finished the blocks, arranged them and sewed them together, added the borders and sent it on to her longarm quilter.  She should get it back in the New Year.

I like bright colors so these two really caught my eye. Great quilts!

Love them both and what a good friend you are!  Very interesting use of fabrics and color.  I like the stripes arranged around the center square in the second quilt.  Also the way the colors change in the corner squares to both complement and contrast the blocks.

The orange in the baby quilt really pops.  Should be so snuggly with a flannel back.  I have some of that same striped orange fabric and won't turn it loose, even for a quilt :)

Very pretty quilts.  That was nice of you to finish the one top for your friend.

Two very beautiful quilts!  What a great friend you are!  Need some of my UFOs, too?  That baby quilt is so pretty and bright, and will be a good size once the borders are on.  Way to go!

They will love the baby quilt! The bright colors should attract the baby to feel them. Your friend's quilt turned out great. She''l be so surprised when she sees it finished! You're my kind of friend!

Lovely quilts, both!  I like the interest and fabric selection for the baby quilt, and the second quilt is very pretty!
