Quilt With Us

New grandbaby Ian is now over 5 lbs, off all supplemental oxygen, nursing and taking a bottle (both) well.  He may be ready to go home next week, but only time will tell.  He has come a long way from that 27 gestational wk, 2 1/2 lb preemie.  Lots of prayers answered along the way, and we're thankful.

His big brother has been with us for most of the past 1 1/2 months, and it's been fun.  This grandma is reminded why folks have kids when they are young... keeping up with an active nearly 3-year-old keeps one on one's toes!

Now to get a quilt made for this new little guy!  I have the cuddle fabrics and a pattern, just need to find the time to get to it.

Thanks for all your prayers, concern and encouragement.  You are appreciated.

Also, an update on my dad who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer the end of the year.  He will be 83 on Sunday, and he is slowly fading.  A friend noted that I was sandwiched between new life beginning and a life well lived, and it is true.  He's doing incredibly well all these months (months we didn't think we'd have), and even this morning he's gathering cattle on a horse, determined not to be left behind when the men ride out.  This might be the last time he's able to do so, but he's surprised us before.

All in all, we've been blessed.

Barbara, I slept better last night than I have for the past 2 1/2 months!  Lots to catch up on around here now.  :/

I'm so happy for you all. He's done exceptionally well for being premature. My last DGD was 5 lb 13 oz when she went home and was full term. Now you can just enjoy your 2 grandbabies

Barbara, I've been out there for the week; just returned home this evening.  He is doing very well.  Just like any other newborn (although technically he's over 2 months old).  He left the hospital on Saturday weighing 5 lb 15 oz and at his dr. appt on Wednesday, he was 6 lb 9 oz.  He is sleeping well for her at night.  When he's awake, he is content.  They are all glad to be under one roof again.

My mother said, "Oh look!  He has my double chin!"

He gets to go home Saturday.

What a doll! I'm so happy he is doing well and almost ready to head home. I spent a month hanging out with my DGD while waiting for the newest one to arrive. All I could think was "how did I manage with my own?" Answer--I was much younger then.

Your dad is amazing! I am sure he is happier on a horse than sitting at home with the women.

He is precious. I'm so glad to hear he is doing well and gaining weight.  I know what you mean about having our children when we were young.  It takes a lot of gusto to keep up with the little ones.

I'm so happy to hear Ian's doing so well. He's a beautiful baby. Yes, I know too well why young people have babies. I'm reminded everyday with a 2 1/2 year old here and I'm a lot older than you. Prayers are with you and your family for your dad. I can't believe he's still able to ride but what a blessing he can.
