Quilt With Us

I hope that you enjoyed our Royal Wedding which was on Friday us Brits do Pomp & Ceremony well I wish the couple a very Happy Life Together.

Well I am still working on the quilt which is for a wedding gift should be finished later this week.

I have done some blocks it for a swap on my Online Quilting Group the block is called Next Door Neighbour  & this is what is going to the 2 names drawn this month.

I also done a pair of socks in Bamboo it Happy Yarn which is 75% bamboo 25% nylon (polyamide) the colour is Jupiter (2513)

I haven't had any further sock orders so not knitting any at present, which is okay with the quilt I need to finish

Also on my group we are doing a KYO-BOM which is Keep your own Block of the Month in this those who signed up for it pick a block for one of the months so May's one is

called   Lover's Knot  This one I rather like & if you look on page 2 & at what some have done there is a lovely quilt done using Black White & Floral it the one done by Julia I may do this for my DD wedding quilt but using red not a 100% as I am also liking one or 2 other ones so not made up my mind yet

On the KYO-BoM I have to choose June's one have a few ideas but not decided yet, I am hoping to make decisions on blocks & quilt once the quilt is done & may be even after the 2 weddings this month the 1st will be for the one I done the quilt for which I will show later in the week, then a week after that wedding we have another one to attend so a busy month for weddings

I just ordered a new dress hoping it arrives in time & that it will suit me I will look for something else for DD wedding in October

Hi Cellogirl

I not started to wear the bamboo socks yet but they seem okay not too different from other ones a little softer

Yes i find it easier when it not too many rows to a Aran pattern as normally they have a bit that repeats every 4 rows so it easier to follow

The whole wedding was wonderful

We not too bad here it a bit windy & while we have had some rain not as much in the last two months as what they say is average hope you have a good day

Hugs Janice

Am wondering how the bamboo/nylon will wear? Just finished my second Aran--on my Knit Picks page.  Great fun!!  Thank you for the courage--you're right, I keep the repeats down to divisible by 4 and it makes life much simpler!!

Loved the Biblical basis for the marriage ceremony--beautiful dress, great hats!!

Hope that all is well for you!!  We've had a cool spell and enjoying it before the heat hits--but it's very dry in Texas.  Best wishes--

your right about the nylon/polyamide. I made that mistake before and had to add the nylon to the heal and toes. It made the socks too bulky. I will post pics when I can get the kids to take a pic and down load it for me.

Hi DebiP3

My DH is diabetic & that why i do his socks i don't use 100% wool i find doing a mix wears better plus they just as warm you really need some nylon/polyamide in to help them

I like the Churn Dash block, sound nice in the colours you are using, here Black along with White are some of the more expensive fabric colours you don't see them in the sales much i hope you will share your blocks as you go along

Well, the first block is called churn dash. Every week it's different. I missed last week, but I'll let you know. I'm doing mine in Amish colors (black, red, purple, & teal). My kids usually don't like hand knitted stuff, but one in particular, has raynaud's disease. So this makes her really cold all the time. The doctor told my husband to have me make them for him in 100% wool. He has diabetes and nerve damage in his feet and they are always dangerously cold.

Very pretty blocks.

I don't watch TV much, so I didn't actually see the wedding, but did see the the dress.  It was beautiful.  There's something to be said about simple, elegant and classy.
