Quilt With Us

Checking in from Chester, VA 8/31/2010

Hi folks, I hope you are all doing well! I have been super busy this summer, seems to be pretty much the norm around here anymore! I have been working on my sister in law's quilt and am now two thirds of the way done. Yahoo! I'm sure you have worked on several that you will be glad to see the end of. I like it a lot, heck I like them all but I am ready for a new project. I have not yet reached the point that I can work on more than one quilti at a time. I mean the actual quilting part, I do have several tops ready and waiting but can't make myself start one until I finish one. So sad but I'm afraid I'll end up with too many UFO's. Any tips on how to over come this will be greatly appreciated. It's been so hot that unless I turn the AC way down I can't get much done at one sitting, unfortunately my husband gets a tad upset when I do that, bless his heart. Truthfully, if I have to spend extra money I would much rather spend it on fabric or other quilting supplies. I have made a little more progress in my sewing room; I had to put it on hold for the summer, my middle son came home from college and allllll of his stuff went in there. He just went back to Liberty last Sunday and while I will miss him a lot, I am happy to get my sewing room back. Now if I can just get to it! :)

I signed up for my first quilting class! I've been quilting for while but I figured I probably should learn the right way! It starts the Monday after Labor Day. We will be making a Sampler Quilt and this one's for me! I picked up my fabric yesterday and I can't wait to get started. :) I'll update more on my progress later.

My younger sister Jackie lives in North Carolina. We don't get to see each other more than a couple of times a year but we do talk on the phone and of course on the computer all the time. She is a relativley new quilter and like most of us, she has become hopelessly addicted! Anyway she was up to visit a couple of weekends ago and we decided that we are going to make a quilt together. Sort of. We picked out the block patterns that we like, and decided on blues and whites. The plan is to make the number of blocks for the quilt. I will give her half of mine, she will give me half of hers and will peice together our own tops and quilt them how ever we want. We will have two quilts, one for each of us but one that we worked on together. What ever happens it will be fun and we will be able wrap up in a hug from sister anytime we want!

See what I mean, so many quilts so little time! I love it! Be blessed friends and happy quilting!
