Quilt With Us

Day 3: We were up with the chickens or should I say cows this morning as the winds and rain kept us up most of the night. The lovely sound of pitter-patter on the roof only goes so far. Thankfully the horrible wind was to our back today so maybe our gas miles will improve. I did a spreadsheet in the computer to keep tract of that sorta thing. Have to keep the driver happy.
We traveled south on hwy 84 from Idaho to Utah. We were absolutely shocked when we came around a corner and saw snow. I thought this was a cool photo, farming in the foreground and snow on the foothills. Then before we knew it the snow was right along side the road.
And last but not least was this closeup of the mountain we were driving thru.....
Then as we were nearing Salt Lake City, it started to rain and you will NOT guess what happened. Yep, the wipers didn't work. We had just had our little, yipee conversation, that nothing had gone wrong today and that we were so proud of ourselves and then wham.......no wipers. We just looked at each other and laughed. Thank goodness we had this stuff called Rainex on the windshield. The drops just ran off. Our park here is nice but it's cold and really windy. Walk about 3/4 mile to Albertsons to get some lettuce and a flyswatter. Oh, and we walked home and no flyswatter. Oh well, the lettuce was sure good and DH's motorcylce magazines work just fine on the flies. My fingers are crossed for tomorrow. So...to bed early and hope we can get a good nights sleep. See you tomorrow...........happy trails

Don't you just hate when that happens...I just love that Rainex stuff. I use it all the time. Now remember....no discussing anything about things going wrong anymore..lol. Beautiful pics I might add. Hope the rest of your trip is uneventful and safe.

Georgeous photos! And wouldn't you know it? You had to make the comment that all was good! I tell you those little devils will reek havoc with you! Murphy's law! You should know better. What motorcycle magazine does your hubby read? You should slip in a quilt magazine, but put a motorcycle mag cover on it! And have a camera ready! That would be a hoot! Safe travels and until your next installment! I do really love to read your travels!

Debbie, thanks for the roadtrip,I love these little virtual adventures! It keeps my mind off this wedding for a few minutes each day! That third picture of the mountains is beautiful! It's finally cooling off here in NC, but I don't think we'll be seeing snow anytime soon! Enjoy your trip and stay safe!

Oh, Debbie, what a day for you! AND SNOW!!!!! Please don't send it our way although there were a few flurries in the air on Tues. a.m. Overall, glad you are having a great time and can laugh instead of cry at things that happen. Continue to have a great trip.

Thanks again Debbie!! I wait for your reports every day and then I feel like I have actually been somewhere. I love the pics and y'all play safe and be careful-oh, I forgot- you are used to snow and those conditions. I would not go anywhere that I might have to drive thru snow and ice. Thanks for sharing...............

I went to visit mom today. It started raining soon after leaving home and was raining pretty hard in Billings. On the way home I could see snow on the mountains and then on the windshield. Brrr. I ran out and brought in the green tomatoes. Freeze tonight. But it's lovely the way the rain and snow can stop a forest fire and wipe the smoke from the air. You need windshield wipers. Can you tie a string around them and operate manually--was that in an I Love Lucy or did it happen to a friend of mine? Gads the brain is just plain fried.

If you had infants with you, you could have used a 'Pamper" under the wiper to keep it from scratching your window.... worked for us years ago and gave great humor to the gas station people when we pulled in! Rainex is nice. Glad you had it on your windows! Keep warm... those are cold looking pictures! Brrr. Okay, I've had my bedtime story, I can go to bed now. Thanks Debbie. Sweet dreams.

Just don't light a match for those smells. Didn't you have the wiper issue last trip? Stay safe.
