We were delighted to see that our son drove from the greater Bowie area of Maryland here to Ossineke to be with us for Christmas. The dang kid left Maryland on Monday and drove through a blizzard to get here. He ended up staying overnight in Ohio as they had shut down part of the freeway due to accidents and poor visibility. The story he told upon his arrival just sent shivers up my spine. He said he was determined to spend Christmas with his ol' Madre and step-dad since he missed being able to be here for Thanksgiving. He is has to leave for Maryland either Christmas day or the day after in order to be back on the job by the 30th. Hopefully the weather will be a little kinder for his return visit, though I doubt the travel will be easier as it's been snowing steadily since his arrival!
I was to have surgery during Christmas week, but that has been put off until the 30th, which is just fine with me. It will allow me to cook some nice dinners while my son is visiting and really enjoy the visit. Just wish it wasn't such a short one, but I am thankful for the time I have with him.
This early Christmas gift has made me realize just how truly blessed I am with the love of family, extended family and friends. May all of you this holiday season know the true miracle of Christmas and may you too be surrounded with the love and laughter of family, friends and those you care about.
Well, I need to close this missive and get ready to go out and chop down a dead birch tree before it falls on our pole barn. My son said he needs my help with this and I also need to get out and snow plow the driveway before my truck gets totally snowed in.
Blessings on each and every one of your and may you all enjoy all the very best that life has to offer in the comming New Year.
