Yes, he (Mr. Groundhog) did forecast 6 more weeks of winter and this week has the weatherman in a tizzy with pending snow storms, one bigger than the other. Kind of like pre-game entertainment in the weather industry. (sigh).
This little Feathered Star was born in Mary K Ryan's VQF class about two year's ago. I had finished the star and wanted to put the border on it. Well the border patterns were way too small for this quilt block. So Ijust added simple borders to it just to finish it.
What happened to those borders?????
I simply had to make another Feathered Star in the size to accommodate the size of the borders. Again same pattern designer...Mary K Ryan.
Now I didn't stop there. Digging into my UFO's I found another Mary K Ryan pattern - Mariner's Compass which I also took a class on in the same VQF year. So I brought that one out and made a valiant attempt to finish it with similar pointy borders. Until I realized that border was also too small for the center block. (sigh). So I painfully cut out the border again with the correct size template ( no this one was not paper-pieced) and in excruciating pain, I pieced the entire border and then added it to the center block.
Here is the result.
My biggest issue is to determine whether I should machine or hand quilt them. Or hand them off to a long -armer for spectacular results.
Wishing you all a safe week in spite of the pending snow storms.
ps Pam/NY - Enjoy your trip to Florida, I'm sure it'll be a most welcomed journey!
