Quilt With Us

When I signed on to Facebook today I had a wonderful FUN surprise.   The group quilt that I and 9 others here on QWU made in 2012 was featured on the "Quilting Daily" page. This is the picture....

Artists were: Linda Gillett, Becky Ray, Sharon Hirschorn, Linda Harriott, Barbara Blackwell,

Charlotte Gustavson, BJ Elder, Barbara Dannenfelser, Gwen Gwinner, Ally Bryant

The process - each person was emailed (or a few snail mail) their 'slice' picture that they were to recreate. The finished size of each slice is 4" wide and about 21" long. No-one knew what the final picture was until they sent their finished piece to me.  Once I had all the pieces then I put them together and did the finishing details. There are a variety of methods used - piecing, raw edge applique, paint, fusing, thread painting. Each person could do their section with whatever method they wanted.  Here is the picture it was done from:

You are a very artistic lady for sure and such beautiful work!!!  All you ladies deserve a 1st prize for your section and together should get a grand prize.

How inspiring....absolutely a wonderful example of souls coming together in creation.

This is so amazing...jaw dropping amazing!  I wouldn't know where to begin on a project like this.  This is just one more of those artistic pieces that humbles me.  My "want to" always far exceeds my abilities.  You, on the other hand, dive in and create such beautiful art!

Those scenic sectional quilts are becoming very popular!  This one is spectacular!  9 gals in our local guild did one of our victorian downtown street (600 block of Main Street) as their first project.  It turned out very well and was shown at the quilt show this summer.  We also had three visiting scenic strip quilts from the Klamath (OR) quilters.  They were breathtaking!  Another guild in the area did a 25 piece sectional of several miles of the Sacramento River.  They usually use some "constant" in each section; in the river quilts, it was the "water" fabric.

Congratulations, BJ!

BJ, that is beautiful. It looks so much like the original picture. Such great work, I'm glad to see it was featured on the quilting daily page!
