Quilt With Us

I'm new to this site and haven't gotten to know anyone yet. So I hope 2012 will bring some new friendships. My main goal for the new year is to finish as many UFOs as possible and to return to charity quilting. I've also joined 2 BOM groups so I pray I can keep up with those as well especially since I'm not home until end of March. I winter in Arizona and I don't have my stash here...so I'll be buying fat quarters. Also to start the new year I'm hoping to adopt a rescue Havanese 18 month old puppy. My pain management doctor feels a puppy would be good for me. The plan is to have it trained as a therapy dog, because eventually that is what I will need due to my injuries from an auto accident 4 years ago by a red light runner. Once I get the puppy and we bond, we will begin training. I have found the the puppy I want and I'm waiting for the adoption to be approved.

I'm praying God will be merciful in 2012. Without my awesome God I would not be here today waiting for a puppy to become a part of my life or to continue quilting like crazy. I would not be enjoying my 7 grandchildren, my family and friends. He is truly amazing. Amen.

Happy New Year to One and All! Here's to Quilting Friendships!

Hugs,

Linda

I've joined BOM and Crabapple Hill Groups. Thank you. Don't worry when I get the puppy I will definately post photos. His name is Indy. Havanese are in the Bishon family and weigh about 12 lbs. full grown. I am use to bigger dogs, but afraid I can't handle them now plus I've developed allergies to most breeds. Havanese I've learned I'm not allergic to. My friend has a Havanese also named Indie...a female, 11 years old and trained as a hearing dog. So I'm familiar with their capabilities.

Welcome Linda.  If you have not had the chance, be sure to check out all the individual groups that are also part of this wonderful forum.  While I throughly enjoy the main blog, I have found that it is easier to form friendships by joining some of the groups.  Enjoy your new puppy.  Like Irene said, it is unfortunate that you have to suffer due to someone else's carelessness, but you will find the puppy will be very helpful.

I hope you'll post a picture of your pup when you get it.  I can't remember what a Havanese is?  Big, small?  Light or dark?  Four legs two ears and a tail, I hope!

I'm glad you survived that accident, but sorry for the lasting injuries.  Have fun with your fat quarters, they're kind of like potato chips!

Welcome Linda!  Check out all the groups here and join in. There are so many great ones and friendships just waiting for you.  Some QWU people live in AZ and others winter there, so you may get to meet some great people during your stay.

You are so right - God is amazing!

Welcome to QWU Linda,  I'm sorry to hear about your accident.  It's sad that you have to spend the rest of your suffering due to someone else's carelessness.  The puppy sounds like a good idea.  Dogs provide so much love and care to their owners.  I have one under my desk as I speak.  I go to bed hugging her and get up hugging her.  She is a rescue from an abusive/neglectful situation.  She just turned 2 on Christmas Eve. We got he when she was 6 mo. old.  She was a holy terror for awhile but is calming down with some much needed training.  I'm sure God will be merciful to you in the coming year.  He is always, there for us.
