Quilt With Us

Heart broken and in withdrawals! 10/4/2010

I can't stand it! I fell and have a fracture in my right hand! Of course I'm right handed! Never mind work, I'm an Administrative Assistant or any of that other important stuff! It's my quilting hand!!! I do a lot of my work, well most actually, by hand. I don't even have a ufo that I can whip up on the machine to take the edge off. Several projects in the works but dag nabbit all to heck, I can't work on them. It's so depressing :(. I suppose it could be worse. There will be no need for surgery and It should heal it's srlf as long as my hand is stable. So I'll be ina hard splint for the next three weeks and then he "will see" if it can come off. I am getting better at typing with my left hand though. Excuse me while I go sit in my sewing room and look at all the things I could be doing. Yes, I will be taking a bag of shortbread cookies with me One of us will come out...eventually!

Sorry to hear about the fall, you should look at it like this......... you may not be able to sew but you can shop for fabric , get next 10 project in line, read the books and what ever else you have put off reading, now with even more ideas from the books shop again. Hope you heal fast I know I be nuts aslo.

Oh, and if you haven't read her book series, you will get a BIG laugh out of the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series. Start with ONE FOR THE MONEY. I read all her books while I was healing and they got me through the crisis.

Oh no!!!!!! I broke my right wrist falling down the moutain side a cpl years ago. Word of advise? Do the therapy and stay in the cast as long as the doctor recommends. It's tough. So sorry to hear that.

Hope your hand heals soon. We never know how much we depend on our hand, even a sprained thumb can stop everything.

Sorry about your injury. Get rest and let it heal. Enjoy football games, new fall shows, a great book, or just catching up with family. In no time at all it will be healed and you can enjoy using your hand again. Take care!

Oh Gerri, I feel so bad for you! But do as the Dr says and behave yourself! I'm with Sunshine, take chocolate and a good book! It'll get better! Or just start designing your next awesome project, color it all in with your left hand and put it in a scrapbook with the pictures of the final project and you in your splint at the beginning of it. Then when people are ooohhhing and aaahhing over it's awesomeness later, you can show them how it all started! ;)
