Quilt With Us

I really did! I was working on a block yesterday, trying to catch up with the rest of the girls in the Country Junk'tion Block of the Month group, sewing happily and watching Oprah when the local station had a "Breaking News" story about a church daycare van involved in a head on crash and all involved being transported to the hospital. When I got a look at the name on the side of the van I thought my heart had stopped, it was the van from my granddaughter's after-school daycare program! I was on the phone before they stopped talking! I called my daughter-in-law and she answered the phone with, "She's okay Grandma!, shook up, but okay, she's at the hospital now, Daddy is with her already, they're just checking them out as a precaution, but she's okay!" Okay heart, you can start beating again! Whew! THANK YOU GOD! My 6 yr old granddaughter was in the van, in the front seat because that is where she likes to ride! Thank GOD none of the children were seriously injured! They were all, including the drivers involved, slightly bumped up and scared but no serious injury. The woman that hit them, the police believe, had fallen asleep and crossed the center line, the driver of the church van saw her coming and stopped the van, she couldn't pull off the road because there was a steep ditch on the side of the road, but by stopping the van she minimized the forward thrust of the impact and probably saved them all! All of you who know me, know this child is my life! In all my years of raising my boys, I've had my share of moments when your heart flutters! But I don't ever remember being as scared as I was in that moment, waiting for my daughter-in-law to pick up her phone! I've since talked to her and gotten the chance to hug her tight and tell her how much I love her. Thank you God, for giving me that opportunity again! So for me, just because you can, go hug your kids, your grandkids, your DH, and whoever else you need to, and tell them you love them, and be grateful. I know I am!

I came to your page to wish you a happy anniversary today!! Congrats on 28 wonderful years, and many more to come!!
What an amazing story you have written. The driver of the van certainly was inspired to know what to do. And thankfully she listened and obeyed the inspiration she received so that no one was seriously injured. What a blessing you and all those others involved received that day!!

I'm so glad that no one was killed or seriously hurt, must have been some angels on duty.

Cheryl, I can imagine you heart stopped. Scary moment. God is good and has His reasons this happened. Who knows farther down the road there could have been something that would have killed all the children. You never know His reason. Hugs to you too Cheryl.

Cheryl-I can't believe no one was seriously hurt...praise God and all the angels...what an awful thing to go through. Thank goodness the van driver saw it coming and stopped.

What a scare! I am sure it seemed like an eternity before you heard your daughter-in-law's reassuring reply. Events like this really remind us what we take for granted!
