Quilt With Us

It's finally started raining in western Washington

As summers go out here we've had a very mild summer.  Very little rain sense June and not a lot of the hot temps.  It's mostly been in the 80's even in August which kind of surprised me.  I like the warmer weather!

So what does one do when it starts raining?  I finished the mariner quilt the other night, (see earlier post). I've had my next project loaded on the LA sense taking the other off but I haven't figured out all the quilting designs to fill up the space.  Deciding that it will never get finished if I don't start it, I worked on a part of the border yesterday.  I wanted to double up on the batting but after doing the border I realized that wasn't working.  The feathers that I worked on in the border were folding over the stem line.  Probably shouldn't have tried to use high loft batting with cotton batting. Opps it was all that I had on hand.

So far I've worked the feathers in the border and feathers in the side setting triangles.  Not to shabby for my third quilt top.  I had to use my cell phone for these pictures.  My digital camera with its auto flash didn't show the stitching.

Great feathers  I've done them once on a regular machine; looked OK but need lots more practice.  I do best with meandering and stitch in the ditch.

You are giving me courage to try some machine quilting stitches I haven't tried before. I don't have a LA so I am going to give it a shot (on a very small quilt for starters) on my regular machine. Yours looks so nice!

Been very mild here too. We finally have been getting rain and LOTS of it. I threw my back out yesterday, and I have no idea what I did, it came on gradually and now I'm down for the count. VERY frustrating! Think I will brake out the crochet hook.

You are doing great! The feathers look very good! Can't wait to see it when you get it all finished. Enjoy!
