Quilt With Us

I don't remember which group my Mom read about doing this quilt race in.  I think it's also called the 1600 quilt.  Anyways, at Thanksgiving, while Skyping with my sister and niece in Nebraska, we all decided it would be fun to quilt and Skype together at Christmas (and race, of course!)  What a success!  I'm including mine and Mom's tops - hoping Jeannine & Anna post their quilt pics soon too.

OK, ok, I didn't win - Anna was the winner, but we all say she cheated since her Dad stood behind her straightening the strips as she sewed.  And mine is wrong since I was somehow missing 10 strips.  I'll be mad if I find them in my sewing room when I get home later this week.  But I love my colors and I think we are all very pleased with the outcomes.

Thanks to Karen and Judy who first talked about Skyping and sewing together in Karen's UFO group.  Now Jeannine and I are planning on working together on our Crabapple Hill projects.  And we thought it would be nice to get together once a month to Skype and sew.  Maybe that will help keep us working on those UFO's!

Go to Planetpatchwork.com on New Year's Day they have a mystery quilt.  The cutting instructions are available now and on the 1st they post the remaining steps about every 2 to 3 hours.  The projects are small lap size.  However be sure to print off the steps on New Years because that is the only day it is free.  You might have fun skyping with that too.

What a great way to sew together even though you are far apart!  Isn't Skype wonderful?  The video part freaks me out a bit--don't know why--but Skype was a lifesaver when DD was in Austria this summer.  She could call often, talk as long as she had time for, and it was free!  Maybe I can get together with quiltng friends who have scattered this way!

Sounds like a lot of fun!  Only problem is I'm the only one who quilts in my family.  I haven't made a "race" quilt, but I do have a million strips!!
