Quilt With Us

Hi there! Just didn't seem to have enough on my plate to complete as it was....so thought I'd add the SBS Quilt to the list! I'm a relatively "new" quilter, but have been making "blankets" for years - I never knew the proper ways to do things before such as blocking, strip piecing, binding, applique, etc., etc., so I started taking classes after our youngest left for college last year and have been intrigued and engulfed ever since! I have made 3 full size quilts already and 3 other lap quilts, with at least 12 tablerunners. I am currently in a block-of-the-month learning some applique with a 1930s reproduction called Linked Chains in process, and a black, white, gray and electric green Crossroads Variation started for my 19-year-old nephew! That doesn't even begin to touch the boxes of started and "needing-to-complete" projects in the closet! Anyway - thought I'd share a bit and thank the "quilting community" for helping me regain a sense of self with the empty nesting syndrome closing in! Thanks!

Welcome to Quilt With Us and the Slackers group. I've been enjoying myself immensely and have made several blocks for my quilt already. The best part of that group is learning new techniques and picking up on all the great ideas! After 20+ years of quilting and I am still learning!

You are going to love making the SBS quilt!

Welcome to the Slacker's group. It gets a little strange in there sometimes but its lots of fun. Some people even make blocks. That's the really strange part. Sounds like you need to join Karen's UFO group too.

Prairie Quilter - too funny! I, too, am a medical transcriptionist! LOL I've been at it for nearly 15 years now (CMT last year) , and married to my husband 15 years this December with 2 kids, ages 19 and 22)! I'm great at starting projects - its the finishing that is the problem for me; eventually...I make myself take a month and start finishing things up without starting anything new! Also - am an avid cross stitcher and reader as well.

Welcome! The SBS group is a fun one. All those sampler blocks are a great exercise, whether beginner or experienced quilter. Sadly I'm a true slacker. Too many irons in the fire to start on it, but I follow the group and enjoy seeing all of the blocks as they go. It may have to be a "someday" quilt for me.

That's a great project. There are some of us true slackers that haven't started do jump right in!
