Quilt With Us

I usually only share on the Giftie forum, but I'll share here today. This is what I'm currently working on. It's a pattern from Sam Hunter of Hunter's Design Studio. These are the colors she made hers with and I just loved them so much I decided to use the same colors for a gift for my niece's wedding. This is just the top. I'm almost done quilting it. Now both of my daughters want me to make one for them too! This picture does not do the colors justice though.

That's impressive, both the bold colors and the quilting.

Jan is right, you don't think of the letters at first. Very nice, and subtle.

Beautiful!  Your quilting is perfect for the quilt design.

Hah! Don't feel bad; I didn't notice it spelled out Love when I first saw it either. I had to show the pattern  picture to my daughter and her husband (both talented in the art field). Just held up my phone and said, what do you see in this quilt picture? They both said 'Love', immediately.

(Ding!) Lightbulb moment.  After reading your post below mentioning the "L and V", I had to go back and look at the quilt again.  I completely missed the big picture the first time around - was just seeing the different geometric designs, not letters.   Adds a whole new dimension to the wedding quilt.

...I'm a little slow, but I get there eventually... :D

Thanks everyone! I just finished quilting it. Next job is knotting and hiding all the threads. I have a busy week coming up though, so I may not get back to this til next month.

Handstitcher, my youngest wants these colors; they are her favorite. My oldest is trying to come up with a color palatte that will compliment either her living room or her bedroom. I won't quilt theirs like I quilted this one though. It was tough on me and my machine doesn't have a very big harp space. I used my walking foot and pretty much straight-line quilted it, one inch apart. But I followed the form of the letters, and the L and the V have some extra work in them. Lots of maneuvering and rolling of the quilt.

Such a striking quilt! Do your daughters want the same colors or will you try something different? I’d love to see how it looks with a cool color palatte as well.

Kathleen, thanks for sharing your project for others of us to see. It really is a great looking quilt. Prairie Quilter is correct, it is successful when others want one too. Sam Hunter has some great designs.

Kathleen, this looks like a fun one to put together!  For me the mark of a successful project is when others want one, too.  Nicely done.
