Quilt With Us

I want to thank all of you for your wonderful comments on my quilts. You all really know how to make a person feel great. I did want to answer a question about the wall hanging with the photo of 2 girls on it. The girls are my younger sister and myself many (too many) years ago. I did the Sepia tone in my computer software, then printed it on fabric sheets called Printed Treasures, which you can buy at most fabric shops, then appliqued it to the main fabric. I used a decorative stitch on my sewing machine to go around it. Then I just machine embroidered the flowers around and overlapping the photo. I did do a memory quilt for my son and daughter-in-law of they're wedding and also another sister received a pillow with her OLD OLD picture on it. If you'd care to see the photos they are on my website

I do hope I answered the question as to where it isn't confusing. If not, feel free to ask.. I've admired the photos here on this great group. Have many ideas tucked away for the future. Hope they all turn out half as nice as the ones here.
You all have a great day..

Hi Linda, I know this is an older blog, but, after reading it I wanted to share. I made several pillows for christmas presents this year, using the printer treasures. They were so much fun and easy. Everybody loved their pillows....several wanted to know where I bought them..... My husband thinks they are unique, no, just to non sewers....LOL Happy 2011

Have you ever tried Bubble Jet for printing pictures on fabric. Then you can decide on the fabric you want to use to print the pictures. I usually use unbleached muslin. I like the way it makes the pictures look old. Some of my clients have requested white and so I then use bleached muslin. It is a really simple process for cents on the dollar as you can save the solution and reuse it several times. I would estimate that over the past year I've print upwards of 100 pictures and I still have half a bottle of solution. The bottle cost me 15.00 in March of 2008. You may ask your fabric stores about it. You can also buy it online, however I don't remember the site I purchased it from last year.

Hi Linda, Thank you for viewing my photos and for your nice comments. I appreciate them very much. I looked at your photos and visited your website, too. You do fantastic work! I absolutely love the tone on tone quilts! Gorgeous! And the wall hanging with you and your sister is so precious. It is beyond words. And the pillow with the young child and the pink trim is beautiful.

I LOVED looking at all your work----just beautiful. Thank you also for your compliment on my Hollow Cube. I will be going to your website next. I would love to do embroidery on some quilts. I, too, want to know what kind of machine you have. I can't afford it now but saw a tutorial on the new brother Quattro. I would love to get that machine. It is over $8,000 and afraid I can't get it unless I come into some money soon. Plus, you can't drive it around the block. ha,ha
