Quilt With Us

My Twisted Sister Quilt finally finished!!

I finally finished.  I made this quilt for my sister who is a Garfield nut.  She can draw Garfield as well as Jim Davis, the creator of the character.  Anyway  growing up I loved Odie.  She tortured me like Garfield tortured Odie... Hence the name of the quilt Odie's twisted sister. :-)      The corner stones are Garfield and Odie together. The quilt block are Twisted sister by Ami Simms,  I was fortunate enough to have gone to a work shop where I met her.  The blocks go together so fast when you chain piece them.  Ami was a great instructor, very funny and patient.  I hope you enjoy the pictures.  I did the quilting in a varigated thread to go along with the bright blocks.  I went to a friends house and used her long arm to free motion quilt it.  I made two pillow cases and a few throw pillows to go with it.

This is colourful and well-made. And you machine-quilted it yourself! I am yet to try machine quilting.

Great job, I love the bright colors. Your description of your relationship sounds like mine with my sister-and we are both Garfield fans as well! I bet she loved it,

Thanks ladies!  This was a huge accomplishment for me as it is only the second one finished.  I was nervous about free motion quilting it.  I had spend so much time piecing and embroidering you know?

This is a great quilt. I love the twisted sister. I did one too for a baby quilt. It turned out great.  Love the concept in making the blocks.  Totally love your Garfields!!!!!

I had done a Twisted Sister "Mom Like Me Best" and made 3 of them. Two for my sisters and one for myself.  I had looked for fabric that related to our life together.  My sisters loved them.  One of my sisters lives in New Mexico and I had told her I wrapped myself up in her quilt and whenever she's under it I'm there hugging her.

THank you all for your wonderful comments.  I sent the link to my sister who called and said she loves it, but I think she will be blown away when she gets it in person.  I was when i looked at the finished thing.  THis is only my second quilt to get finished,  i did one for my daughter and I have tons of things started and about 4 more tops done.

This is so cute, Michelle! My brother loves Garfield! I made him a Garfield and Odie quilt about ten years ago.
