Quilt With Us

Thought I would take a break from sewing and say an Early Happy New Year.  It started snowing early this morning so I have been hunkered down to the sewing room all day.  Making tab curtains for my bedroom.  I don't like the color of the ones I have in there now.  I have the fabric to make my kitchen curtains and living room drapes so hope to get them done soon.  I haven't really had any time to get them made since I moved in.  My sewing room is all set up except for two shelves that need to go on the wall over my machines. The men here in the complex will put them up for me.

I was forced to re-home my dog and I miss her more then words can describe.  My neighbor complained that Holly barked when I wasn't home.  And yet this woman takes care of her grandchildren often and they are loud and never stop talking.  And it goes on like that all day until she puts them to bed around 9:30 p.m. Holly is 3 hours away with a couple who have no children and live in the country.  They have two grown cats and a new kitten and an old dog 11 years old.  I have known this girl for about 17 years. They both love Holly especially the husband. Just another bump in the road of life. At least I know if I should take sick I won't have to worry about what will happen to my girl.  There is always a silver lining behind every dark cloud.

Irene, I remember when you rescued Holly from her previous owners and all the funny things she would do. I'm glad you found her a good home, but so sad you had to give her up! You have a great attitude, Irene. Happy New Year to you!

Life changes and then some,,but it's not that easy.  Enjoy sewing your curtains and think about your dog,,at least she is in a good home. Quiet means quiet in any language,,even next door...Happy New Year Irene. May this year be good to you.

So sorry about your dog. At least you were able to find her a good home. The grandchildren next door sound like pests.

Irene, I would definitely complain about those noisy kids.  It is one thing to have grandkids spend the night occasionally; constantly is another matter.  You have really gone through a lot over the past few years between taking care of your sister, Bud, your own health issues, moving to a new place, etc. so at least you should have peace and quiet.

I have been wondering how you were doing Irene. Change is not fun.  My vision problems have been a rude waking for me. It is hard for me to stop sewing and buying fabric, even after being told "yes, you are going blind. The blindness is not much yet. More test next week. We do get close to our pets. I have 30 year old daughter to clean up after. The past three days have kept my husband and I busy to clean up her bathroom mess. Pets can be also a mess as they age.  How can the neighbor have children in a senior place? We were told my daughter had to be adult to live in 55 plus housing.

Roxann, I tried to find a doggy day care here we don't have one.  Carole, I agree with you on the fact as we age we have to give up a lot.  In one year, I left my home of 50 years.  Bud is in Assisted Living and then they made me give up my dog.  Janet, my house hasn't sold yet.  I had the oil company shut down my boiler and had the water shut off and the pipes drained and antifreeze added.  I am going to complain to management about the noisy kids next door.  I was told when I moved in that we can't use the laundry room before 8 in the morning and after 8 at night due to disturbing the neighbors so this neighbor with the grand kids should have to go by that rule for kids.

How sad that you had to give up Holly.  It does sound like she is in a good, loving home.  I hope you can enjoy your time in your sewing room; it should be good therapy, and those new curtains will brighten your home.

That is so sad about you having to find a new home for Holly.  I'm sure she really misses you too.  Were you able to get your house sold yet?  I sure hope so.  I'm surprised that the management allows your neighbor to keep noisy children that often.

So sorry you were unable to keep your little dog with you.  It seems like one has to give up so much to the changes that happen later in life.  At least you chose her new home for her and you know she will be fine.  Wishing many blessings your way for this New Year.

I'm so sorry about your Holly. Too bad you couldn't find a doggie daycare for the days you needed to be away from home. I hope you will be able to visit her lots.

Can't wait to see your new curtains! Happy New Year Irene!
