Quilt With Us

One thing about having wintery weather and the furnace on, is that I'm constantly dusting and swiffering the hard wood floors. (There's something to be said about cloudy days!) The sun comes out and it looks like I haven't cleaned in months! Well, I'm in the broom closet gearing up for a day of swiffering and to my delight ....I found the " EARRING"  I thought I might have lost in the soup back in Nov. !!! Luckily, I kept the other one just in case!! So...you just never know...

Tomorrow, the BFFs are going to the mall and outlet center for a day of wondering around and lunch. We are all very down because one of the gals( my main partner in crime) is leaving the area. We will only see each other two or three times a year now. Breaks my heart...this getting retired stuff and downsizing breaks up a lot of BFFs around the globe. We are avid Breuggar coffee drinkers at 2pm every other day to solve the world's problems and brag about our grandkids and harp about the pitfalls of having hubbies home all day! lol

Can't replace a 30 year friendship...

That coffee break does sound wonderful - I am so sorry your friend is moving away. Thank God for Skype, email, FB and so on.

Soooo when spring rolls around, we are all going to Pam's house for a treasure hunt!

What wonderful luck.  I only find lost earrings the day after I decided I had kept the odd one long enough and pitch it!

I still keep in contact with my 2 BFFs in ID, who I've known since 1st grade and never moved from there. I get to see them every summer 2 or 3 times and we always have such a good time. But, it isn't the same as living there and seeing them more often. Yes, Skype does help with one and the other has no computer. Sorry about your BFF moving, but you'll have other good times together. I lost a gold nugget earring that I got in AK and have never found it (2011), but still have the other one. We've had such beautiful weather her in our corner of the NW with days in the low 60's and high 50's. Suppose to start getting rain on Sunday, so I'll keep enjoying these beautiful days.  Have a fun day with your friends.

pam i have dear friends all over canada...and you know this is a big place! we used to write letters but then kids came and life happens...so email has been a godsend. being able to send off a note in a few moments and even photos...keep these friends alive for me. as we are all in different time zones the phone is trickier but still an option. i feel for you tho. my dearest friend from nursing lives in B.C. and it might as well be timbuktu. however i still love to hear her voice on the phone. i am always tearful after i speak with her but that's all about the love, right? we end each conversation with i love you. we have both been thru so much since she moved there... but the bond is as strong as ever...

When I moved to MO 6 yrs ago I left behind a very dear friend in Las Vegas.  We do keep in touch, but that is not the same as being able to go to lunch, quilt shop hopping, etc.  My other close friend moved to WA State 15 yrs ago and I miss seeing her on a regular basis too.  I was just telling my husband this afternoon how frustrating it is to have 2 good friends here in MO that both live 40 miles away from me - one north and the other southwest.  We all met through our quilt guild, but the one who lives 40 miles north went back to teaching full time so she can't attend guild meetings any more.  I did visit a cute quilt shop in her town today and lo & behold, she walked in the door just as I was leaving so we did get to catch up a little bit.

I know exactly what you are saying Pam. We had a sunny day today and CRAP, I thought I just dusted Monday! Or maybe I actually did dream I did. I know one thing for sure, come spring there is going to be a major purge at my house. I'm looking at paint colors and fabric for new curtains.

I'm glad you found your ear ring.

Have fun shopping tomorrow! I hope you and your BFF are able to stay close even through the miles!

It takes a lot of work to keep in touch long distance. Lots of times, as you stated, you start out with good intentions.........Lots of times it ends up being a one sided communication and this can get old real fast, especially when it is you that is the one who does all the communicating. I hope you and your good friend don't fall into this catagory and can keep your friendship going for many years to come. Glad you found your earring, and saved the other one!

Only women (maybe a few good men) can understand the relationships of a BFF. I totally agree about this site...what wonderful ladies. It's not like spilling your guts to your buddy and she knows you don't mean half of it...or she knows when to tell you to reign it in...or when all you need is a good laugh or a hug! Thank goodness for technology...I remember when we were kids, we moved frequently because my dad was running from the law...no...it was his job. You would write letters in the beginning and your parents would let you call once, because long distance calls were for family. Very soon nobody bothered to keep on touch. Skype will help and visits when we can...it's what it is.

I'm glad you found the missing earring but sorry your BFF is leaving. My BFF is now gone all winter and frequently on other trips after she returns. Honestly? If I didn't have imaginary friends, and QWU, I'd have no one to talk to but the dog and DH. (A nice man--but, well, you know.)
