It started out as many reasonable ideas do...I would simply open up the craft room closet and "look around" for my little screw-on cup holder that I always take to retreats. My sister bought it for me many years ago when we were both big scrapbookers. It's very handy for holding not only your beverage, but also a little trash bag for your scraps. Maybe some of you have one.
So, there I was finishing I think my third or fourth cup of coffee yesterday morning when I knew the time had come to tackle the clutter and start my search for my little priceless gadget. (Yes, so priceless I had no idea where I put it-but anyhow...)
I flipped on the light switch and flung open the doors of my cluttered domain and saw nothing but boxes, totes, baskets and piles of "stuff". I couldn't even locate the plastic cabinet drawers to see if I could spot my treasure through the sides. No, I had to actually get in there and root around for myself.
I stood and sipped...and tapped my foot...thinking and thinking...should I approach this obstacle over the top, underneath or head-on? Finally, I set my coffee cup down and decided to go at it-head on...and thus began a still unfinished job of "Spring Cleaning The Craft Room Closet"! (Mr. Man Cave is still recovering from the shock that I actually started on it!)
Remember when I told you yesterday I had to pack for a quilt retreat? Yep, still on the to-do list. However, all is not lost! I have found some items I have been looking for while I have been cleaning!
1) Mark's crusty sock he lost during Christmas vacation.
Maybe I'll send it with the next care package so he can
enjoy it. I am sure he'll appreciate it as much as I did.
2) My high school scrapbook. Ha! I am thinner now!
3) Matthew's Big Bird stuffed toy. He's 23, so I suppose
it's time for "Bo-Bo" to go live with him now.
4) Mr. Man Cave's frisbee from college. Yeah, gee we
really need to hang onto that!
Of course, there are many other uncovered treasures, but too many to mention. See? No matter how many "downsizings" we go through the stuff travels with us. Unbelievable!
Well, I suppose I should get back at it. I am rewarding myself with a large iced coffee when I get done!
Oh, I did find my cup holder thingy. It was wrapped up in a pre-school t-shirt of Mark's next to some stinky tennis shoes...welcome to my world!
Enjoy your day!
