Quilt With Us

Good Morning!
Ok, just about ready to head into a world without cell phones, tv and other forms of modern communication for three days. Can I do it? Perhaps, after I get my hair and make-up done for the day...

Mr. Man Cave has his doubts. However, like a good sport he packed up my car ( yes, I got it cleaned out...) and will send me off in about an hour. He is volunteering all weekend at the Women's NCAA Final Four Tournament downtown here in Indy. He won't even miss me. I trained him to provide for himself and this time I am not leaving any treats except pizza, chocolate covered pretzels and ice cream. I am sure he will not waste away during my absence.

I have no idea where I am going down in southern Indiana to find this place. I am going by the directions on their website, which according to Mr. Man Cave led him to Nowhere the last time he took his high school kids there. But, here's my survival plan:

1) Stop at Starbucks on the way out for "fuel".
2) Jam out on the radio all the way...there.
3) If I don't find it, I know where the sponsoring quilt shop is located and hopefully I can find my way back to that little town.
4) If not, I will have to stop and ASK DIRECTIONS. See? I am not above such tactics when it involves quilting.

I would see not being able to find the retreat center a REAL emergency, thus I will do it. That, my friends is where the hair and make-up comes in. What lost quilter would dare be out asking for directions looking like a frump?

So, let's hope I find the place before noon when I am scheduled to speak and before I lose my cell signal, because it's a crap shoot as where my weekend might lead me...but I have ALL of my quilting supplies with me...how bad could it possibly be?

See you on Monday!

Looks like you made it and had a FABULOUS time!  Aren't retreats divine?

Oh Rhonda, I would have made a test run just so I would know where I am going.  If it is too far for a test run I would have gone to map quest (my DH said they never know where we are going) to print out a map.

Good luck, I hope your coffee lasts long enough for you to get there.  I hope you will have a great time and that your little speaking part will be enjoyed by all.

Happy Retreating!

I am very familiar with going somewhere that I haven't been before.  We have gotten the worst directions from an employee of where we were going....they think about how they get there in their little car and don't think about bridge heights or weight limits on them.  Turning around a semi with a 53' trailer can sometimes be quite a challenge.  Happy hunting and have a good time while you're there.  Waiting to hear how it went.

Boy, do I hate not knowing how to get somewhere before I set out!  You are very brave and seem to have a plan, so I'm sure you will have the best time of it.  Enjoy the retreat -- I'm looking forward to hearing all about it.

Hmmmm.... I think you need to put a GPS on your birthday or Christmas wish list.  Hope you find your way .... should you be dropping breadcrumbs as you go so you can get back home?  Just a thought.  I know you will have a great weekend, full of fun and laughter, with some quilting thrown in for good measure.
