Quilt With Us

Packing for a 3-Day Quilting Retreat ...

in a little mountain town about 2-1/2 hours from here over this next Friday, Saturday and Sunday with my favorite quilter roommate. Unfortunately my participant packet got lost in the mail!  It finally arrived this morning, a little battered and scuffed, but the contents were just fine.  I have been to this one before and the leader usually sends a pattern and background fabric for a Friendship Block, all of which will be drawn for at the end of the retreat.  Now I'm scrambling to find compatible fabrics from my stash (for a pale yellow with orange dots background!)  I'll try to get it cut out before I leave, but I'll have to sew it together there!

I don't have much time because I am also packing for a long-awaited trip to Alaska for nine days to see our DS, and his fiance, whom we haven't seen in a year!  We leave next Tuesday, with only one day between trips.  (What was I thinking??)  We are flying from Sacramento, CA to Seattle, WA to Anchorage, AK -- It will take all day, and we arrive about midnight.  DS assures me that will be okay, "because it will still be light, you know!"  Can't wait to investigate all the quilt shops I can find in Alaska!  I'll catch up with you all when I get back.

Here is the last photograph DH took of our DS before he left:

Carol Ann I want to go with you on both trips also. I have never had the pleasure of a retreat although I did get to Alaska once. I have 2 nieces with their families in Anchorage and my Sis and BIL live in Chugiak which is about half way between Anchorage and Eagle River. I went with my Mom back in 2006 and we stayed for 6 weeks. We traveled from Homer's Spit to Denali Park and all the places between. Had a fabulous time and would be ready to go in less than 30 minutes if I could go again. Enjoy and do see all the quilt shops you can. Oh take a few pics of the flowers down main street in Anchorage if they have them going now. They were beautiful in September, when we were there.

A wonderful trip to get to go on and visit your DS. There are so many quilt shops to go to. Been there and done that and would like to do it again. Happy quilt shop hunting and buying and best of all, the time you get to spend with your DS. Have a great time at the retreat and in AK.

We should all be envious of you right now!  The retreat sounds wonderful, then the icing on the cake with your Alaska trip - way to go.  Enjoy every minute.

I wish you were going too, Pam!  I'm taking a bottle of New Clairveau Monestary red Barbera wine and a box of very dark chocolates made by Nuns to the retreat!  Woo-Hoo! lol

I want to come on both trips!!! The retreat sounds like so much fun, especially going with someone you know! I can imagine how excited you are to see the kids! We live in the same town as our son and family, I get crazy if I don't see them once a week. I know how fortunate we are. Alaska will be so beautiful...just enjoy every second!!!!!
