As I have been boring you all this month with my entries at a local quilt show, I thought I'd just give you a brief note on the results.
The show was wonderful -- so much talent in the neighborhood! There were more than 200 entries and the big barn of a building at the fairgrounds was filled to overflowing. I have never seen so many really excellent quilts in this show!
The competition was stiff, and I was fortunate to get a First Place for Cranberry Bear! (see my post "Quilt Show Entry #5" on April 5th). None of the other quilts placed, but I'm happy! I got many nice comments from others on Bear and the mystery quilt, Triassic Terrazzo Tiles". "African Jewels" also received its share of compliments.
Well, onward and upward. I have an idea for a spectacular polar bear for next time, and many UFO's await my attention! I have begun work on a quilt I call "Three Whales for Kaktovik", which I will give to DS to hang in the school library, if he so wishes. He'll be visiting this summer -- going from -30 in the arctic to the 90's and above will be an experience for him. Even though he was born here, he hasn't been here for more than three years!
